Anyway, I can't even begin to explain hwo exicted I am - it's nto as if I can' thinkof anything else, but I can feel the eager anticipation within me, and it won't go away till I see the 11:15 showing on July 4th.
Oh yeah, why I'm not seeing the first showing? Because when I requested the day off to see it, it was still supposed to come out July 4th. That day was 8 months ago, so....yeah.
Still, remember, watch for spoilers, and beware - onceI get home fromw atching the movie.....everyone here will know.

The Harry Potter movies blow. They can't compare to anything. Especially not vehicles that transform into awesome robots of death and coolness.I reaaaaally don't know if Potter can compare.
Man, I have to go see this movie!

Considering that the threequels have been pretty poor this year, that's not saying much. Not even the May Threequels match up to it.
I'll say one thing, this film looks very visually impressive on the big screen from the trailers I've witnessed.

Because kids can watch generic bland bullshit and somehow still enjoy it. (Granted... this Potter flick DOES look a lot better than those before it.)

Sadly true. I think even Fantastic Four 2 was better than Spider-Man 3.

Saw it. Loved it. There were a few parts that disagreed with me, but it was action packed, it was humerous when it needed to be, the Autobots had genuine motivation and Shia was perfect in his role as Sam Witwicky.
Shia played a good role because Sam Witwicky was so much like other characters he's already played. Constantine, Battle of Shaker Heights, Disturbia, hell even when he was younger in that movie Holes, and I'll even admit you see a glimpse of these characters in Freddy vs Jason. He was badly typecast for Transformers.

Ahhh, Chris Marquette. Well....he kinda looks like him sort of.
Point remains. Typecast.

While it was far from the perfect Transformers movie, it was good. Really good. Excellent even.
...hell, screw this restrained crap, the movie was freakin' awesome, in the opinion of this TransFan. I guess I'll get all the gripes out of the way first. While I certainly didn't mind the puny fleshc reatures, there was still too much of them - specifically, the Pentagon/hacker guys. The Soldiers story, and the Sam/Mikaela stories were good and actually reasonable, but save for Jon Voight's auto-pilot performance and Maggie randomly being the hot girl with foreign accent, the Sector 7/Pentagon story seemed like a waste of time. Also, there was a little too much humor here and there at the most random times - restraint would've been nice.
That said, the movie itself was awesome, and it does not sully the name Transformers in any way,s hape, or form - indeed, it's worthy to be called that. While the plot was certainly nothing stellar, it managed to keep connected and not wander off too much, so ti worked, even if it's just an excuse to go from the "sh*t blows up scene I" to "sh*t blows up scene II." Sam was a great character, props to Shia for the eprformance - a likeable guy who 's a loser, but you can't help but root for anyway, and I admit, Megan Fox did manage to be more then eye candy, somehow. Josh Dummel and Tyrese were jsut fine and dandy as well.
But of course, no one gives a crap about the humans, it's the Transformers dammit. Peter Cullen proves toe veryone that he is still awesomness in his voice acting, and he basically forces the audience to accept that yes, Optimus Prime is a full fledged character and not just a plot device. Bumblebee was also very well done, though when his voice matrix is healed by the Allspark he sounds kinda....different. Even so, your eally felt for the poor little guy when the Sector 7 guys are doing their thing, and as such he's also a true character. Hell, even though the other Autobots and Decepticons ahrdly got any screentime, they still managed to ring true to what they are - Ratchet, the calm, collected medical officer, Ironhide the battle ready ass kicker who shoots before he asks, and Jazz the Earth culture loving bot, even if he kinda sorta dies way too fast.
As fot the 'Cons, same thing - Megatron, despite his lack of screentime, was freakin' bad ass beyond belief. G1 Megs was a little campy, which is part of his charm, but this guy is just relentless and ready to screw you up if you look at him funny - kudos to Hugo Weaving for making the voice work totally different from anything he's done before, even if he had some mechanical help. Starscream didn't get much, unfortuantely, but from one of Megatron's single lines, we know that he's defintiely the same guy we knew as kids - and if you don't, then it doesn't matter to you. Braw - I mean, Devestator, Bonecrusher, and Blackout sufficed as namless evil Decepticons who have to go Ka-boom, and Barricade gave us enough to show he's the bad cop. Always. Frenzy deserves special mention, because he's, for all intents and purposes, Waspinator from Beast Wars, and its personality manages to come out even without speaking English. Skorponok was sweet too, for what he did.
All right, as for references I got? Well....
-First one was obvious - Blackout and later Ironhide had the classic transforming sound
-Nice burns on Porsche and Volkswagen. Bumblebee, of course, was a Bug in the original, and Jazz was a 911, and VW/Porsche are infamous in the TransFan community for refusing to even consider officially lisensing one of their cars for the toyline - so they both got a jab here.
-Speaking of jabs, for those wondering about the Furby truck, Furbies are made by Mattel, Hasbro's big rival in the toy industry - this is Hasbro's way of telling them their toys are going down this summer, bitches.
-As for the little girl with the tooth, yes, Hasbro also makes My Little Pony.
-Obvious Optimus Prime lines:
"Freedom is the Right of All Sentient Beings."
"One Shall Stand, One Shall Fall."
"Autobots, roll out!"
Plus his whole speech at the end that mentions being worlds' apart is somewhat lifted from the 80's movie's theme song.
-"Witwicky" is the same last name that Spike and his father Sparkplug had in Generation 1. For all intents and purposes, Sam is Spike, and some official documents have his Dad as Ron "Sparkplug" Witwicky.
-"More then Meets the Eye" being used a couple times, of course.
- Megatron's "You've failed me ocne againS tarscream" is a direct references to Screamer's cosntant treachery throughout the various series'
- Also, Megatron refering to humans as "fleshlings" is lifted directly from the original show, though I always prefered "Puny flesh bags" myself.
- The Allspark is a weird combination of the Autobot Matrix of Leadership and Vector Sigma, though it works. If the sequels involves Unicron and Primus, expect the shard Prime kept to be important
- Oh, and visually, the Matix of Leadership was homaged as Prime's spark container when he briefly showed it.
- While this is kind of a guess, the reason why the phone, 360, steering wheel, and Mountain Dew machine were so pissed off is because they had no sparks - they were emrely soulless living things, to put it lightly. This could be reaching, but Michael Bay, the writers and producers all atteneded "Transformers School" at Hasbro HQ, where they were taught all the basics thatpeople like me take for granted, and that involves the conept of sparks as souls, so...
...and I'm sure there are more I just can't think of right now. Other random things?
-The big guy randomly falling through the glass window. WTF?

-fights are awesome and a far cry from the old days when they'd line up in neat lines and shoot at each other.
-Funny how Sam's folks were so happy he "bagged" a hot chick, even Mom.
-Generally, the humor wasn't BAD, there was just too much, but eh, better then having none I guess.
-There's an -shudder- Expanded Unvierse toy coming out whose alt modeis the tow truck Mikaela used to haul Bumblebee around. There's also a few to represent the motorcycle Lennox used and the ospreys at the abse at the beginnin of the movie. The motorcycle would ahve been Arcee and was to be in the movie, repalcing Mikaela's scooter, but they ahd to cut her out and repositioned it to be a random bike on the street.
-Big time set up for a sequel with good, plausible reasons for more TF's to show up - Optimus Prime let out a signal to other surviving Autobots to join them on Earth (similar to what one of the quickie pre ending credit blurbs during Season 3 of the show explained), and Starscream beat a hastey retreat to presumably gather reinforcements.
-Also really obvious out if they want to use Megatron again - hell, they can even ahve it as the Allspark turning him into Galvatron
-Hmmm, Barricade still seems to be alive, hn?
-Poor poor Jazz, but hey, the movie said it itself - "No Sacrifice, No Victory."
-And before anyone says anything, no, the movie is not a freakin' moral story. It's a basic sci fi Good VS. Evil story, nothing more, so shut it.
Anyway, I could probably drone on for much, much longer, but I won't. I'm definitely hoping for a sequel, to put it lightly, but only if they can make a good story - even if only as good as thsi one - and top this movie. As for characters, I'd like to see the new group of Decepticons - plus Starscream and Barricade - led by Shockwave, complete with Soundwave. Producers said they're pushing for at least Grimlock and the Constructicons for the sequel, and that next time they'd use the two unused characters, Arcee and Wreckage.
...so, yeah. I liked it. A lot.

I don't want them to make a sequel. Too many ways to mess it up.
Was Frenzy the little guy? I couldn't figure him out. And isn't Scorponok still alive, too?

I haven't seen the film yet, and I'm still fairly skeptical, but I saw this and thought of you, DJ.
It makes me giggle.
You'd be suprised how ironic that is after seeing hte film......
in anycase
according to the writers, they're not done with Jazz just yet
Read up on his wikipedia page. They explain their plans pretty well.
And I'm still glad they kept him as teh token black autobot. just wish he said "Jive turkeys" or somthing in the film XD
My guess for new autobots is Arcee, Blurr, Mirage, Grimlock and Hot Rod
New Decepticons would include constructicons, Sounwave (HAS to be in it) and Shockwave.
Also, they GOTTA have Unicron (and make sure he's not a cloud, like the OTHER devourer of worlds was

That was neither an axe, nor was the word Energon used at all XP
Dude, we all know that the only reason it was included was to appease G1 fans, as Prime had it in the original trasformers (though rarely used it).
It was called an Energon Axe. Nuff said =P
