Well, this is some kind of problem that I couldn't overcome or find answers across internet sites that I searched for. When I start the game, I can see the opening movie but the other in-game movies aren't working. I can hear the movie narrator speaking but the movie doesn't show up, I only see the menu screen. Does anyone have any solution to the problem?
I'm running the game in Windows XP in my HP Pavilion Laptop. The game worked perfectly well in my old laptop (Toshiba), which now belongs to my dad.

You might need to download some new video codecs. Here is a download that is a collection of codecs.
Nice choice of codec packs, Husky. Khuffie recommended that one to me years ago - I've never had a problem since then.

It worked somewhat... I had to click on the movie selection button several times to make it run properly.

Whilst we're on the subject, my henchman (Tomi) no longer attacks anyone. He just shouts "Here comes Halfling death!" or what have you, runs up to the enemy, crouches down into an attack postion, and then stands uttery immobile before getting hacked to death. Why? I've tried reloading to before the problem, and he miraculously develops it. I've tried killing him, which doesn't help... I unhired him and got someone else (who attacks just fine) but when I go back to him he's useless still. I don't want to swap henchmen... What can I do?

That's odd, I don't have that problem... but I do have one problem with Tomi, different from yours. I asked him to use ranged weapons for a while and then when I tried to ask him switch back to melee weapons, he didn't switch back. His arm still held the bow instead of his usual daggers. It's not working regardless of how many times I tell him.
