I know that when a Kitsune gains it's ninth tail, it's fur becomes white or gold and also gain abilities to and hear anything happening anywhere in the world.
But that's what I got from Wikipedia a long while back but I never really saw a full legend or myth. v__v

And that the number of tails usually depend on the age and wisdom of the Kitsune.

It's both, every tail signifies one hundred years. Wisdom comes with it, but they're naturally smart. Tricky, but can be loyal and -

this can lead to a nearly endless supply of comments. btw. I joined much earlier submitting stuff for Legends of Zelda back when Davogones had his own site. Those were the days.... I never activated my board account before becoming part of the staff. So that number is not entirely correct.
