All of a sudden, the two warriors blinded by the sweat dripping in their eyes, swung blindly at each other, each connecting with the other's side. Their armor gave way and their blades were buried in each other's sides. They slumped over and fell, blood pouring from their mouths and sides. Now Steel saw things as if in fast motion. Dwarves, long since vanished in the world which Steel now lived in, sadly hauled the bodies and their swords away. Suddenly, Steel was in a forge deep under the mountains. The dwarves seemed to be forging a new blade with the mixed blood of the fallen warriors. The new blade was a katana, just a little longer than average length, but still 6 inches shorter than Steel's own Dai-katana. On the pommel of the new sword, the dwarves inscribed a strange character and said a few words over it. They then touched the character to each of the warrior's swords. The swords seemed to disintegrate and flow into the character on the newly crafted sword. The character glowed bright green and then faded. As the character faded, the images in Steel's head faded too, and his returned to his own sightless world.
*click*
The box in front fo him opened, and Steel understood. This box held the sword which had been crafted by the dwarves those centuries past. Somehow Steel seemed to know that it was called the Dualist Blade. Suddenly, he sensed a presence behind him.
"Whut, pray tell, are you planning to du with zat blade?" The stranger had a strong foreign accent.
"What business is it of yours?"
"I have beeen sent bai the general Khuffie to retrieve dis blade for him."
"Well you simply have to tell him your mission was a failure." Steel's voice was hard.
"I am afraid I cannot do zat." Steel heard a slight click as the stranger prepared to draw his blade. Without thinking, Steel drew the Dualist Blade and swept the foreigner's head off in one clean stroke. The man's body fell to the ground. Diel. He had not meant to do that. Ah well.
Steel wiped the blade off on the grass, returned it to its sheath, and stuck it through the sash tied around his waist. There. He had it. Light's weakness was earth or water magic. He got up climbed the gully, successfully this time, and returned to the others.

Z had almost finished absorbing dark energy. It was taking him longer than he had hoped, but that didn't matter to him. He was done; his body glowed an ominous dark purple light, which slowly faded.
"Good... now to deal with that barrier." Z said, using his chain to crawl like a gigantic spider again. He approached the barrier, knowning but not caring that he was in plain sight. "A light barrier... its weaknesses are earth and water... bother. Neither of those are in my arsenal... but perhaps a blast of pure dark energy can distrupt it..."
Z clapped his hands together and slowly moved them apart; black sparks were eminating from his hands, collecting in between them to form a ball of darkness. He didn't want to use too much, so he made a small ball, just a little bigger than a basketball. He threw it at the barrier; it seemed to wave a little. Good; this was working.
Z continued to pound the barrier with Shadow Balls until it was weakened, if only for a moment. Light was beginning to recede around where he was striking; that area now looked like a normal sheet of glass. "Nice try, old man, but it's not like this is the first time I've dealt with an elemental barrier!"
Z jumped up into the air, and his spike chain began to coil in mid-air around his legs, without touching them. It formed into a spike-like oject, pointed at the weakened portion of the barrier. "Demonic Drill!" The spike chain began spinning wildly and spewed black sparks. Z thrust down onto the weaked area of the barrier and drilled through it, after a few sparks. He fell through and righted his spike chain into its arachnid-like form again, and looked up to see the barrier fixing itself. He barely made it.
Z smiled and continued on his way.

"This explains the light barrier; with this much spare energy lying around, making a light barrier would be simple for even the worst magician. Maybe the sensei isn't a master of magic after all... still, I'd wager he is skilled with a blade. Plus he has information I need. I'll have to be more careful on my way there..." Z then sensed someone else's energy among the light. "Motoko... perfect. The old man will be willing to speak with her more than me. A little spy work could do me well..."
He began stepping more lightly now, staying low (but not too low) to the ground and kept his distance so that Motoko wouldn't notice him.

Z chuckled and muttered to himself. "Well, if he's a sensei, then of course there would be some people training under him." He pulled out a telescope and peered into the visible walkways on the outer part of the building; many people were walking, talking, and some people in robes cleaning the halls. "But I didn't expect THIS many... more than likely one of them will sense me if I go in alone. I need to possess one of them..."
Z wondered just how he would manage that with the others in such close proximity. He would have to play it safe for a while.

He looked over the buildings thoroughly.
He looked back at the others, “I think we need to engage in an investigative manoeuvre, we don’t know what could be waiting for us in there. Laz might’ve gotten here first.”

"Laz might've gotten here first."
Now Z laughed out loud; so loud that everyone knew where he was. Rather than continue his futile hiding, he revealed himself wand walked up to the group on his arachnid-shaped chain (he can't walk on the ground because of its light energy.)
"I know that's not true, angel." Z said, stopping just close enough so that he could be heard at a normal tone of voice. He didn't want to get too close. "A Laz agent came to me himself and hired me to take out the sensei here. Offered me a favorable sum, too. He obviously has information about Laz, though, so screw that agent. If the sensei knows a way to get rid of Laz, then I'd rather keep him alive."
Z then turned serious. "If there is anything I want more than the ultimate power, it is the destruction of Laz. Ask my reasons if you will; I'm not shy."

Surrounded.... Something else had caught her attention: the Arashi Tenshi was alrady in her hand. A quiver had appeared on her back as well. "What is dead, should stay dead!" she shouted as she reached for an arrow and aimed for one of the magically revived monsters heads

Z then jumped and landed above Steel and Motoko, the makeshift legs made by the spike chain landing around them. He began landing downward blows on the zombies to stun or injure them, while defending Motoko and Steel.

"Malthinos tolithionus!!!"
The arrow started to glow a faint blue. She released her hand and the arrow then shimmered and became engulfed in light energy as it travelled through it's target. The zombie fell to the ground and returned to the soil

"Barucha KAILINIAD!"
Light energy poured from the skies, striking the rest of the zombies and everything else in its radius. Steel managed to dodge one, but was hit by the next. It hurt quite badly, and left him tingling. The shower of light subsided, and a young, virile man walked up over the crest of the hill.
"Greetings. I apologize for the zombies, we can't seem to exterminate them. Everytime we think we've gotten rid of them, someone esle dies and zombifies a few animals, and the whole thign starts again. Dastardly annoying, I must say. Oh, my manners, I'm sorry. My name is Quelas." Steel shook his hand. "Come. The master is waiting to see you." He led the party down into the valley.
OOC: Eeep. Can someone please do a filler post so I don't double post?

Quelas led them to the imposing gate of the structure, a solid oaken affair with brightly polished brass fixtures. He spoke a single word and the door opened silently. Steel followed the tall man into the richly ornated antechamber of the building. Quelas led them into the next room, a small training room where two strong looking men were sparring with each other using sabers. With a sudden flick of his wrist, the smaller of the two men disarmed the other and held his blade against the other's throat. The only sound audible was the panting of the two sweat-laden men in the center of the room. And then, a small clap resounded through the room, and a presence which Steel had not felt until now suddenly appeared beside him.
"Garth," said the presence to the losing man "An excellent use of the Griod defense that was. But," he turned now to the winning man "That was an even better use of the Ridd defense, Girard." The two men bowed to the man next to Steel and left the room.
"Now, Quelas. What here we have?" The voice came from a man who was ancient beyond all measure, or so it seemed to those who saw him. His hunched, bowed figure stood only about 4 1/2 feet high, and his snow white beard, the only hair on his head, reached to just below his waist. He walked over to the raised platform on one end of the room with the aid of a knobbed walking stick and sat down.
"Master, I found these travellers being assaulted by the zombies and gave them aid. They seemed to wish to see you, and I could detect no illwill towards you, so I brought them here."
"Mmmm," the bald head nodded sagely "Right you were, Quelas. And now I wish to speak with them privately."
Quelas bowed to the old man and left
"Now. For what purpose was it that came you to see me?"
Steel stepped forward.
"My name is Steel. Around a week ago I met a man. A man who told me that in order to destroy the society of Laz I must first see you."
The sensei's eyes suddenly brightened and he leaned forward "A name? Did a name he give to you?"
"No."
"But he was tall, yes? Tall as you and some even then? With hair black and eyes green?"
"Yes . . . but he died as soon as he told me to see you. He had an incurable disease."
The sensei sunk back.
"So . . . he chose one in the end . . . one to finish what started he."
The old man eyed Steel critically. "destroy Laz wish you to, you say. The hate you have, I sense, yesss, but hate many have Laz, and have received they all is death. Sense I also that power enough you have not to destroy them . . . yet. Mmmmm. Training need you. All of you, yes. And of you the rest, committed to the task which friend of yours has set out upon are you?" The old man looked piercingly into the eyes of each member of the party.

That, or its because he is on the infamous "I cant be bothered" mode.
All the encounters with Z, he knew he didnt want to waste time teasing him or anything. He was to busy just looking at his surroundings, he had been here before, but that was in his days of corruption. He was spending time getting to know the land again, and was concentrating in complete silence to take in everything around him.
He was standing around in the shadows observing the room, ignoring everything the sensei was saying. It didnt really matter to him.
"Training need you. All of you, yes. And of you the rest, committed to the task which friend of yours has set out upon are you?"
Upon hearing the old man say that, he spoke up.
"Keh! I dont need any more training! I already mastered this sword, and I was strong enough to begin with!" He said in a mildly loud tone to himself, enough for the whole crew to hear though.
He made his way to the outside and decided to just cool off. It was sad getting angry over such a small thing, but training is not his style.
Staring up at the moon, he realized it was just a crescent...

Perseus immediately drew his knives facing the zombies. He rushed the nearest one, chopping off its arm, he turned back to it, and used his diving attack toward it, his knives pointed towards its heart. He flipped back onto his feet, pulling his knives out of the undead army only to see another zombie clawing at him.
Perseus ducked and slashed at its stomach. rotted grey intestines poured out.
“ugh…” Perseus kicked it away, only to see the zombies had scattered.
Quelas walked over the hill towards them.
******
Perseus couldn’t stop staring at the wizened old man, his eyes were piercing him, as if he knew everything about him.
"Destroy Laz wish you to, you say. The hate you have, I sense, yesss, but hate many have Laz, and have received they all is death. Sense I also that power enough you have not to destroy them . . . yet. Mmmmm. Training need you. All of you, yes. Perseus looked at the sensei.
Training ey? This could definitely make him stronger… but Perseus still didn’t know anything about their mission. What if they didn’t know what they were doing?
He wasnt commited yet.

The statue appeared to be of a female anthropomorphic wolf, like Husky, down to the waist, but from the waist down it appeared like a normal wolf body, with a long bushy tail. This was a statue of a wolftaur, something Husky never saw before, except in some dreams.
The markings on the wall appeared to be a story about the wolftaur, simply called "Six Paw". It showed that Six Paw was a heroine to the wolves a long time ago, but she disappeared and eventually forgotten. One thing that interested Husky was that Six Paw would return one day, but would be a normal anthropomorphic wolf until she came to this cavern and stood on the platform, turning into a wolftaur.
Husky wondered what would happen if she stood on the platform. There were only two markings on the platform, paw prints. Her hind paws fit into the prints, and she stood there, waiting for something to happen. Suddenly, she felt strange, like some kind of dream, and collapsed to the ground, falling to a short sleep.
She awoke about an hour later, wondering what happened. A doorway appeared, and as she got up and tried to go through the door, she fell down. She had become a wolftaur, and now walked on four legs instead of normally two, and had to learn to walk again. It didn't take too long, as she had tried walking on all fours before, but this time she had a new pair of limbs. When she was confident enough with walking she left the cavern through the doorway and ended up outside.
The barrier had disappeared and everyone left, so she used her senses to find them. When she came up to the pagoda in the valley, she waited outside, fearing how everyone would react to her new form.

Ken lowered his head in contemplation. He thought about what was being asked of him, and wondering if it was the best thing to do.
What am I supposed to do? he thought to himself.
Only you can answer that.
Ken was not sure whither he answered himself, or if maybe that was Raiyu speaking to him. But he knew what it meant.
He prayed again and his wolf form disapeared. He stepped forward.
"I want to know what I'm fighting for. What exactly is the Society of Laz?."
If he was to commit himself to this, he wanted to know what he could die for.

Can I do something like this?
Ever since he was a child, he had wanted to be a hero. He had been spending of time wandering, trying to a find a grand purpose. But now his heart weighed down with doubt.
I can't do this... It's just too big...
His head drooped in shame.
"I..." his voice quivered.
Ken's gaze drifted, centering on the hilt of the Wolfen. He began to remember a story, one about his great-grandfather, and words that he spoke in it.
It does not matter if the destination is eight million miles away, as long as walking even a portion of it's path makes you a better person...
"I..." he began again.
The boy raised his head, and stood tall.
I will do it, whither it can be done or or not.
"...I am ready. I will do this!" he said, throwing the fear away from his voice.

This is not the way I want to go...
So, he turned and went through the area until he reached another path. This one led off into the mountains well. It seemed as if the stones was emitting an emotion, because he could feel a sudden longing, like the stone was trying to reach it's home. His destination must've been that way, then.
Before long, Button had reached a path that led up into the mountains themselves.
"A Beginning and an end be this pathway to my journey." said Button, as he started up the path towards paradise.

Then came memory:
////flashback\\\\
A young boy, strapped to a chair and being force fed. The boy rejects the food. The father who had been feeding the boy looks at his mother and worries that the boy refuses to eat. The boy's wails reach far. His screaming is louder than the fiercest roar of the fiercest creature. The boy is angry, reaches for his father with both his hands. He rocks the chair back and forth desperately, his hands outreached, trying to grab hold of something to kill. Suddenly, the ropes break and the boy lunges forward--
\\\\end flashback////
The memory flashed in an instant before dissappearing back into Button's mind.
"Oh boy, apparently you were already fucked up before I came into you." said he aloud to the other living in his body.

He had grown up surrounded by Laz, in one of their numerous hideouts, living an almost happy life, and if not happy – content.
They had taught him how to learn and how to think, how to fight and to shoot, how to hide when necessary and be inconspicuous, how to play and to work, how to be a friend when he needed to be, and to know his enemies… they had been his family.
He remembered his best childhood friend. He was a stronger boy, more strong willed and slightly older than Perseus. He would lead them on wild adventures together, often taking Perseus into the city through a secret passage he had made himself leading from the Laz hideout. They would emerge behind a stall in the Marketplace, and would steal apples and sweetmeats, never getting caught under the confident leadership of the older boy.
They were sometimes found to be missing though, and everytime they were caught emerging from the passage, the other boy would cover for Perseus, somehow diverting all the punishment to himself. They were friends for life, or so they said.
They had big plans for their futures, often dreaming of the great things they would do together when they grew up.
“We could save the world you know…” he would say to Perseus, “we just gotta make sure we never part alright?” Perseus would look at him and grin.
“that’s right, never ever part…”
After that, they were both admitted to the Laz training academy, and there they went their separate ways. After a year Perseus was taken to a remote base location for his “special” training. While the other boy moved up in the academy, using his strength of will and determination to quickly climb the ranks.
Perseus sighed, a touch of sadness glistening in his eyes. The world had gotten so complicated since those days, that golden age of his life.
Laz was still a part of him, but he wouldn’t admit it, he could never admit it. he wanted to help. He wanted to be in this team, to do this mission.
He tightened his fist, willing himself to comply.
“I’m in.”
he didn’t have the confidence that he showed.

He ran smack into Husky. Paying the wolftaur no special attention, seeing the new body, he kind of drifted off away from the place everyone else was.
"You think they could hurry up with the self promotion speeches and get on with the training..." Kitsune quietly said to himself while looking at his sword.
