Got the same one as Fintin, Shekey and Enjeru. Deleted the PM on sight.

What is going on with these sudden bot PMs? The forum security isn't doing its job.

Erm... that's because our forum security doesn't stop people from PMing each other. PMing spam is a new spambot tactic. :P

It is too easy for these bots to join the Forum.
As ar as i know there are several Addons for the forum that tighten the security so Spambots cant join anymore.

I just got a spam message from a bot http://forums.legend...p?showuser=7529

The PM was names From Administrator and the spam link was hidden on the text: New Forum Rules

Can some Mod please take care of that?

Got one from same. Maybe some anti-pmbot measures are needed, as we've had a fair amount lately.

Same. I haven't posted here in quite a while. I previously got another message from muzrinkl with the subject "Uhhhh". I didn't bother clicking into his link or posting about it here though. Now this new one I just received (well, 4 hours ago from time of this post, but am just awake now) was a lot more devious. I just happened to check out where the link was before opening it in a new tab.

Initiation Forum.

New members must first traverse the Valley Of A Thousand Paddles.

Then shall they be granted the privilege of both private and public speech.

*sigh* Took care of him.

What I've done is I've made it so that the group you enter when you join LA, which currently does not allow you to make a new thread, now will also not allow you to send PM's until you post once in an existing thread.

I don't want to leave it like that though, in case some brand new member actually needs the PM service. Back to the drawing board.

Is it possible to make a group so that prior to posting, only admins are PMable?

*cough* That aside, (to borrow from lazzie's idea) Perhaps there's one dude responsible for alla diss?

I'm starting to wonder that, too. Spambots tend to be somewhat few and far between, but three in the last few days?

I got a message from this new one, terkovskyr, and it posted some crap in the Spirit Tracks thread, apparently as well as other places, seeing that its racked up 33 posts...

You DARE bring spam into our RP!? YOU MUST DIE!!!

No seriously, can someone get delete those spam posts in "To End an Empire?" And also switch the group settings back to the way they were, it seems Toan's plan is unfortunately doing more harm than good.

Noted and responding to this so I can confirm I'm not a spam bot. =P I've been getting PMs like this too, which is strange because I've never even posted here on my account until now.

Anyway Captchas tend to work decent against bots and the re-Captcha service is pretty easy to stick into just about anywhere on a website. You guys should look it up and see if it can be used to tone down the spam bots.

Either this guy's a bot, or he has a fixation on photo-editing bordering on unhealthy.
