I used to be a very firm believer that everything fits on one clean timeline, but things now look very different... I think that everything was supposed to be on one timeline when Mr. M. was on the job, but after he decided to give it to Mr. A with WW, things got a little strange...
I guess I'm saying the Myanmoto never wanted it, but Aunma does...
These are only suggestions... please comment, as I have no storyline beliefs thus far.

heh, that's something that we probably won't ever know, and does it really matter that much anyway? We can't assume anything on the parts of the creators, not that of the past or that of the present. Anyway, what we do know is what we have now, and everybody can put the games in whatever timeline makes the most sense to them regardless of whether or not it was the creator's intention at the time.

That's possible, Chronicle. Aonuma could have introduced his own interpretation of OoT's ending, where no official interpretation existed before.
It's also possible that split timelines were intended in OoT all along, and they just never took advantage of them until TWW.
