Right, where do I start?

Thief (formally Hylian Thief) never did anything wrong in the strictest sense, but she was certainly lacking in the forum netiquette department, continuous posting and so forth. As such, she came onto th disciplinary radar by being annoying. But nothing ban-worthy.

A couple of PM's were sent her way about teaching her the proper way of posting, but no reply came.

I then received a PM from a member called White Mage. She said she would like her account 'Thief' deleting along with all of her posts so she could "start fresh".
Two minutes into her new forum life, she requests a name change to 'Heartlessful'.

These various events have lead to us to believe she is a person who will never settle here. Her mind changes on a whim regarding how she wants to present herself. With that, she is banned. For the sake of our sanity as well as her own.

I can't say I fully agree on this. She was annoying, but probably it was just that she needed some time to get used to the place. However, the decision is absolutely yours. The intention of this statement is strictly to give my opinion about her ban.

What does it exactly mean "to be annoying" and "the proper way of posting"?

As in she was basically a spammer who wasn't getting the hint about how many times people told her to cool off with it.

Still. Multiple accounts. That's a maaaajor no-no. ;)

Might I add that I had actually replied to a PM from her warning her not to create a second account. The fact that she went ahead and did it anyway, and then stupidly admitted it to another Admin is reason enough for the ban.

And the fact that it was kind of evident, after I made the name change, that they were the same person, posting from the same IP address and all.

If you want a more technical answer, Thief's previous indiscrestions were more along the lines of spamming after being warned multiple times not to. That'd be a suspension on normal terms. We didn't do this, instead choosing to warn her via PM.

The banning comes from the established 'no multiple accounts' rule. She can't claim ignorance, either, as DJ has stated he warned her about doing it. I'm not sure how many more excuses we can make for it.

Simply, I agree with Vet. Obviously.

Generally, she'd disregarded many, MANY requests by admins/supers/mods between PMs, IMs, and thread comments to lay off of various forum misbehaviours, and she's now been punished accordingly. It wasn't one or two people upset with that behaviour - it was a large portion of the populace. Unfortunate..but it happens.

She had an IM conversation with me a couple of days ago, and called me a weirdo for not talking much.

Name History is in a menu that only appears when you click it, so most people won't know about it.

Thief being banned was inevitable. People who spam like that have no real desire to communicate/debate with other people, or be any part of the community for that matter.

And to be fair she was warned many times but she went right ahead and broke even more rules. She had no respect for anyone here or the forum itself.

She really had the ban coming though, so I'm not complaining.

Not that this has anything to do with this thread or anything, but being anti-social isn't a disability, its a choice.

What I don't see is why the rule of no multiple accounts is there. Anyone wanna explain that one to me? Inu tried, and I think she gave me the whole of it, but I kinda scoffed at the reasons she gave me because I thought they were kinda selfish. Might just be me though. >.>

Mainly because of a lot of bad instances of people misusing multiple accounts. The worst being faking a death after establishing a lot of friendships, all to create drama and get people upset. And trouble makers getting around their punishments, and gaining access to multiple dorms via their several accounts.

That kind of stuff.

Before I was an admin, one of the staff was contacted about a LA member's death. Turned out that was a hoax, and the 'dead' member was a second account of a very alive person.

There were two separate accounts of this happening. The most recent being a little more....intricate.

Wow this turned into a rather intersting topic. Unfortunally she had it comin with how much she posted about the same thing over and over. A lot people tried to help her, perhaps more so outside of the forums through MSN. I did.

Things are a lot quieter around here. The Admins for the forums are more then fair almost in ever instance that someone messes up or asks for something. She pretty much poured as over her and was walking around with a zippo lite and throwing it around. It was bound to happen that she burned herself.

Also I didnt know about someone making multiple account and faking death, that is just so evil on many levels.

Couldn't cookies do that?

Although I'm sure you guys know more about it that I do, but seeing someone online who isn't meant to be online doesn't necessarily mean it's them, unfortunately.

Nah, after a long inquiry and some sleuthing, it was proven that the same person had several different accounts on here at the same time, and truly did fake the death. At which point we had to go around telling people that the heartfelt memorials in their signatures for the 'dead person' that it had been a hoax. Not a good time for those who had befriended the hoaxer.

It's probably in a thread somewhere in here, in the way back. The 'dead guy' hailed by the screen name Eliwood.

Mow will know the perpetrator as Master Shake/Vanilla Spice/Link/eleventybillion names.

The incident preceding the Eliwood one wasn't as overstated or public knowledge. In fact, I don't remember it even coming out on the boards that it was a hoax! The member who did it had already left LA, and the reason for doing it was more of a personal attack towards another member, if anything.

As I recall, at one point they even confessed that it was all a big hoax and that those people who had believed it and sympathized for the family of the 'dead' member were idiots for falling for the scheme. It wasn't just circumstances through Cookies.
