Hm. I'm in a Fruits Basket mood. (The anime/manga, not the mental condition.) This has certainly been done before in a thousand places, but I didn't see it here at good old Z-Legends, so knock yerself out! Who's your favorite of the zodiac Sohmas from Fruits Basket? After that: Who's your LEAST favorite?
Mine...you'll think I'm weird...I've always loved Hatori. Now granted, I like ALMOST every Sohma, really, every character in the show, the characters are terrifically written well. (I'm not crazy about Hanajima or Rin, which is weird, I'm year of the Horse myself.)
But Hatori was not only well-voiced in the show, (well, he could've standed to cry a little more, but he was impressively acted, nonetheless, compared to someone like the English Momiji, *shudders*) but he was touching in the books as well, as a very lovesick hardened fellow who's greatest concern was protecting others. I just thought he had a lot of great gumption as a character, compared to some of the shrieky, frail ones like Kagura or Ayame that are only enjoyable because they are hilarious.
It is too bad that his Zodiac animal really sucks, doesn't it? I mean, that would be completely lousy...but I won't spoil it for anyone who doesn't know...
Ironically, I don't care much for Rin, like I said. But my least favorite remains Ritsu. First off, I don't like monkeys. The animal, I mean, I can't stand monkeys. Secondly, the man cross-dresses. Ayame is exempt, because he's clinically insane, and Momiji has the brain of a two-year old and a thirty year old strangely blended, so he is too....(wow, 30 divided by 2? I think that's right!) But Ritsu? Uuuuuugh...it's just really odd to me. Finally, the man just does not have any very interesting qualities, and while a lot of Ms. Takaya's characters are believable in their extravagancies, Ritsu just seems like a stereotyped, completely irrational bolt out of the blue.
Anyway, that's my opinion! What about you?
