We've seen all kinds of Zelda villains, but who was the BIGGEST? Was Vaati the most vicious? Was Ganon the most GRUESOME? Was Onox the most obnoxious? Was Twinrova the most terrifying?

You be the judge.

Well, Ganon's been around since the beginning, and I don't see him disappearing anytime soon, so I'd say he's at the top of Link's hit list.

There are loads of opponents in the Zelda series, each more powerful than the last. I'd say Shadow Link is the biggest thorn in Link's side...you kill him and he keeps coming back for more...he can't take a hint.

I vote Ganon...oops, I mean I would if this was a POLL. (Please make it one.)

What about bosses? We have a consensus on biggest loser boss? I think Volvagia must have been formidable considering he was the guardian of the mountains. That's like trying to kill the Deku Tree, (hm, maybe that's NOT so hard...), or Jabu-Jabu.

Mmmm... Good point! Especialy in 4 Swords Adventures. How many times do you fight Shadow Link?

I lost count.

I must give credit to Majora's Mask, too. He's done things even Ganondorf or Vaati couldn't do. Let's see any of them make the moon fall.

Why the heck would they want to? How does this help them with world domination? ;) Majora's Mask was a moron. What did he have to accomplish, besides blowing up the world...heck, where was he going to GO after he blew it up? Weird masks...

just because he didn't have a plan after KILL ALL doesnt mean he wasnt any less fearsome =P

i'd say Ganon as well, but that's because he's always at it lol... he's tried the most to conquer the tri-force, and will try again undoubtably.... so, Ganon...

That is what makes Majora so interesting. Ganon and Vaati just want omnipotentence. Majora is chaotic, he wants to cause as much destruction as possible for reasons that are unknown.

You're right...Majora is an exception to the traditional enemy/boss rule. Ganon desires to rule over Hyrule and Vaati desires to rule over mankind, both using either the Triforce or Light Force to accomplish their goals. DeathI wanted to rule the dream world by making the Wind Fish sleep endlessly. However, Majora was already powerful to start off with and simply wanted to destroy Termina... Ganon and Vaati are deadly, but ultimately, predictable.

Shadow Link seems to be the only other exception, he desires only the Hero's destruction.

I've made a few villains of my own. A few examples are Concolor and Allos. These bad boys wanted Link dead and Ganon ALIVE.

Concolor had his dimensional magic and time dilation portals. That AND he could turn into a strange man-cougar creature.

Allos is a bounty hunter from the same world as Concolor and just as deadly. He wields futuristic weaponry, which puts Link's medieval weapons at a disadvantage. Unlike Concolor, he's not a cat, but a dinosaur. (An Allosaurus to be precise)

You've got to feel a bit sorry for the nightmares... In the end, they might have wanted to rule the world, but they also wanted to save the world, and not die... Probably the only Zelda game where you win by destroying a world full of innocent people.

Let's just say that Link didn't mean to do it. Yes, he made a mistake. But he did it because someone threatened it and he probably missed Hyrule.

Just wait. I've got other villains in store for you.

Villains like Siegfried (Sig-Freed), Dragma, Goldra, the Threatening Three, Zensha, and many others.

Sorry, DeathI and the nightmares were very interesting as they behaved 'oddly' and I recall they didn't want Link to escape the dream world either. They even lied to Link saying that 'he was a part of the Wind Fish's dream' and he would disappear if he managed to defeat them all. And if you look at the dream itself Link was actually involved since Marin looked just like Zelda and the nightmares became shadows of ALttP bosses, if Link's own subconscience had merged with the Wind Fish's then the nightmares couldn't allow either of them to awaken. That makes you wonder what brought Link into the dream world to start with, a storm obviously wrecked his ship but did the nightmares send that storm to stop Link from ever returning home to Hyrule?

They mention that more monsters have been appearing since Link entered the dream too... Perhaps he brought all the nightmares with him. It's like the Red King in Alice... Is it the Red one I mean, or the White one? Well, whichever.

I'm not so sure there were monsters in the dream world that were totally new to that Link. DeathI must have been some sort of combination of Link's and the Wind Fish's greatest nightmares...

I suppose DeathI wasn't that evil..it and all the other nightmares wanted to exist and didn't actually turn violent until Link showed up. Problem was, Link was not allowed to escape the dream. He had to make it his quest to awaken the Wind Fish. The only other option for him was to stay there forever:

THE WIND FISH SLUMBERS LONG... THE HERO'S LIFE GONE

Obviously Link could not accept paradise as his destiny and wanted to return to Hyrule to protect it. Oh man, I really want a sequel to LA now. :)

Attached File  Pichu.gif   561bytes   3 downloads Link's most fearsome opponent? Himself of course. I mean is it just me or wasn't Dark Link a pain in the you-know-what to defeat in OoT? Other than that I'd say Ganondorf.

I know the reason why Majora's Mask is different from Ganondorf and Vaati. :o

Ganondorf and Vaati are only human. It's in the nature of a human being to want total control over something. Whether it's a family, a state, or even a continent.

Majora's Mask on the other hand is a DEMON. A demon has little to no interest in control of the world. A demon only has two things on its mind: Death and Destruction. THAT is what makes this mask different from any other villain in the Zelda series.

It's the Red King. The White King was there to have some plum cake with the Lion and the Unicorn. They were, after all, fighting for HIS crown.

I think Majora's Mask is the most fearsome opponent too. Utter chaos was its goal. Heck, Ganon merely wanted to rule. It can even be argued that he started off merely wanting a better life for his people (at least, the speech he gives in TWW gives that sort of impression). Vaati... well, he's just selfish.

Come to think of it, Vaati's pretty much meaner than Ganon too. After all, Ganon never outright tried to suck the life out of the land like Vaati did.

But Majora's Mask, definitely. At least, you get a better sense of the evil he's caused in the game by seeing all the different people he's made miserable. In all the other games, you hardly see Ganon's effect on the common man.

OoT is the major exception, of course, but even then, you don't feel as sorry for the people in the game as you do in MM.

Not quite right - Ganondorf is the Gerudo King with dark powers so he's hardly 'human'.

SPOILER:

Vaati was a young Minish who wants to rule over the human world

Looking at the origin of Vaati, he would appear to be far more evil than Ganondorf.

But he has really oddball queerish tendencies, he's not as tough, and his games and their plots aren't nearly as cool, so there. ;)

...hmmm. most fearsome opponent would have to be shadow link from OOT, but the biggest thorn in the side would be those little fluffy black and white things in Majoras Mask.....what were they called? i cant remember anything except that they were a real pain in the ass...

I thought of two:
TWW: those little spikey balls that latch onto you. ANOYING! (and literally a thorn in his side)
TWW: those miniblins thingies (at least their taunting noise anyway) drove me nuts.

other than that, the most fearsome boss is no doubt (in order) Shadow link, Gleeok, Phantom Ganon, and Twinrova. *nods*

And imagine if the OoT Programmers/Boss Designers decided to give Shadow Link ALL the tactics, moves, weapons and items that Link has...

That has got to be the 'No-win scenario' for Zelda.

I believe they're called Boes. Yeah, White Boes and Black Boes. Or maybe the black ones are just Boes... but, yeah, they are pretty annoying.
