I've got past here before and almost beaten the game but I forgot how to do this. How do you get the First key on the Fire temple I've gotten up the thing and into the left room then do you have to light the torches somhow or what?

For having the first key, you have to go to the left door (from the entrance) where you can find Drunia.

Go to Darunia's spot and look to the left. You can see a switch. Step on it and free the Goron. He will reward you by the key (inside the treasure chest).

OR if it doesn't work, try looking at the right. (I beated this temple since a long whil, so I don't really remember).

You know that room with the chest that's in the fire, and you step on the switch and the fire goes down for a few seconds, what do I do?

You have to navigate the maze of fire, paying attention to don't open the fake doors.

The puzzle in question is from the -master quest- fire temple. What you must do is stand on one or the other of the two torches on the right (make sure you break the crate on top of one) and cast din's fire, then quickly fire an arrow through the torch into the torch on the far side of the room. It's tricky, actually.. almost worth beating the water temple first, and getting the fire arrows... but you need the megaton hammer in part of it (i do believe)

Are you sure?

Maybe it's because master quest is different from the original version on 64

No, wait sorry, wrong room. It's the room where you have to go up the really narrow stairs and not fall down three floors. I can't get teh fire to go long enough for me to even climb those stairs. pleazzze! ( and yeah, the master quest version is different from the original.)
