I know this is a dead thread, but what I have to say is kind of related.
Is that whole "Walrus and the Carpenter" analisyst from Dogma accurate, or were they just screwing around?

Somewhat accurate. People who read in to that kind of stuff say that because Lewis Carroll let the illustrator pick whether it would be a carpenter, a butterfly, or a baronet his profession probably doesn't matter much to the meaning, so it isn't Jesus, and the poem isn't about religion. Another interpretation is that the walrus represents capitalism and the carpenter represents communism- the Walrus is the one that lies to the clams, but the carpenter is more than happy to join in eating them when the opportunity arises, and they both think that massive, pointless projects like getting maids to sweep the sand off a beach are urgently required (See the Burj Dubai and the Palace of the Soviets). John Lennon (and, by extension, me) prefered that one, and it inspired "I am the Walrus," which would have had a different title if "I am the carpenter, goo goo gajoob" wasn't unsingable.I know this is a dead thread, but what I have to say is kind of related.

I doubt it was either. Considering Lewis Carrol took time in his books to attack books that used symbolism and morals, I doubt he would do something like that.
