I noticed that a long time ago. I just think it means that she's somehow connected to the Twilight. Though I wouldn't be suprised if Midna was the vortex. (Kind of reminds me of Paper Mario...)

I always just thought that Midna looked that way because she was in the Vortex, but it would be interesting if in the end it turns out that her body is eventually engulfing the whole of Hyrule, and when you go 'inside' her, it ends up similar to how you can go inside the moon in MM. I doubt it though.
Another interesting point, the symbols sort of look a little like the Tower of the Gods in WW (IIRC).

I think it has to do with the cel-shaded stuff being related to anything Twilight-ual. Midna is going to play a pivotal role as SOMETHING or some catalyst or a common character, (Zelda,) you can just tell, but the vortex? Don't know...though, if I might share my very first impressions of Midna, (other than "Awesome! A gremlin!" I thought that she was the result of the powerful Twilight enrgy, an incarnation of darkness, if you will, like...um...*points to avvy* A Calumon-creature who was born into this depressing realm and sees Link as some sort of excitement, so she uses her darkness powers or whatever to fight with him for fun. I'm not so sure of that now, but that was my first impression. Now I just think she's Zelda.

Well, it was mentioned at one of the E3 interviews that Midna is a "resident" of the Twilight. So maybe residents of that realm have those markings--may not necessarily mean every resident there is evil. But who knows.

Perhaps she tried to escape the Twilight, and that mark remained on her as a scar of sorts.

Perhaps she was born in the Twilight? Or the one who accidently released it? Either way, would she make the most awesome final boss? Dark at it's finest.

"In order to save the world, Link, you must kill me!"
"..." *shakes his head.*
"You have to!" *Tears* "For the sake of the world.*
*Link silently tries to petition a better way.*
"Then I'll have to fight you back. It's the only way to get you to do the right thing."
*Fighting ensues. Throughout the battle, Midna is saying things like*
"I'm sorry!"
"Why don't you just kill me?!"
"I wish there was another way..."
"Has all my training been for nothing? Surpass your mentor!"

And all kinds of crap like that. It would rule.

That's from TWW. Only picture I could find on the net showing the Tower of the Gods symbols...
But clearly, there seems to be a link between TWW Tower of the Gods and the Twilight Realm. Is the tower the last remnant of the realm or something?

Hmm... does that Tower Zelda's in at the start of the E3 video look like the Tower of the Gods from the outside?

Oh yeah, don't know why I didn't see that. Anyway, yeah, there's been a link to the TR and the ToG since the first trailer. Would be interesting to see how they tie in in the game.

Didn't we talk about this a while back? I mean how the twilight markings are the same as in the tower of the gods. And something about Midna's hat/mask thing looks the same as one of the living statue things in the Tower of the Gods...

I don't think it makes Midna special, now that I've seen all this. I think it just makes her another pretty colored Twilight specimen.

Note Link the Wolf's tattoos. Sorry I don't have a pic, but THAT'S Twilight cel-shading as well...maybe it holds in the spell, I dunno.

Speaking of which, what are your theories as to why Link is werewolf?

There's no specific reason. Aonuma was asked that same question in one of the many E3 interviews. He simply responded that he wanted to choose an animal that basically had brave attributes, so he felt the wolf was appropriate. It's just a creator's preference. They could've chosen any other bold-like animal and it wouldn't really do anything to change the story.

Oh, I didn't mean a WOLF, specifically, I mean why does he transform at all in the Twilight Realm, while other people just croak?

We don't know enough to be sure yet.

But it's not just Link - he's not the only one. The Twilight Realm is gradually expanding and as it expands it reaches out and grabs anybody just outside of it.

*                            *                        *                 *                    *                  *

...when humans get pulled into the Twilight Realm they cannot exist there in their human form. So when Link goes into the Twilight Realm and transforms into the wolf, he finds that animals, unlike humans, do remain.

*                            *                        *                 *                    *                  *

It may be that Zelda does transform into an animal…

Is informative, but the most important quote is:

I’m not saying that anyone who enters the twilight realm will turn into some kind of monster, but Link has a gift that lets him become a wolf. As you play the game, you’ll discover clues about Link and why this is happening to him, and how he can return to his normal self.

CN: So we can say that the only person who transforms [in the twilight realm] is Link?

EA: That is correct. Link is the only being who can transform in the twilight realm. There are other animals in the twilight, but these already belonged there even before the twilight arrived. In fact, Link can communicate and interact with these animals – something that couldn’t be done in his original form.

Now I'm really starting to think that Midna is the Twilight Princess

Minda is NOT the Twilight Princess UNLESS Nintendo was playing more of their "misinformation games."

When I was at e3, I downloaded a photogallery of the game to my DS that had descriptions of in game stuff to accompany the pictures. When they showed a picture of Princess Zelda in her funeral robe, they said SHE was the Twilight Princess...
