It made me happy that they were going to some kind of explanation to OoT's ending, and also link us to TWW's beginning.

Maybe it will turn out that a big event happens that ties the TP Link to the Great Flood.

So, from the sound of it, at this very moment, there are three timelines: your typical Child timeline, your typical Adult timeline, and a Capcom timeline. It sounds like he's currently working to unify these three timelines into one.

Heh. At least now we have something to work with.

Is anyone still doubting TP will explain how Ganondorf got out of the Sacred Realm after OoT after reading this?

This tells me what I've suspected all along. That they just sort of mess with the timeline whenever they feel like it. Therefore, whatever timeline may be "official" now could be completely different in five years.

But for those of you looking for something solid, Eiji simply points to the release of Twilight Princess. He insists it will bring closure to Ocarina of Time's ending, and perhaps tie it to another recent title which is the source of much confusion (The Wind Waker).

Anyone else think it'd be pretty wild if the Twilight was the result of Link and Zelda screwing with time in Ocarina of Time?

Like the Twilight Realm was Hyrule's dark future encroaching on its new past (if you get what I mean)? Yeah, that would be cool.

They said Time would be a limited element in the game after all, didn't they?

I'm glad TP will surely clear things up, yet I'm pissed that Nin is still fixing up the timeline.

Cool idea Crazy Penguin,

See, one thing I've really been wondering is when they mean it 'takes place after Ocarina' if they mean before or after those 7 years. Hopefully that'll be clarified somehow.

Personally, it's always seemed to me that the Child and Adult timelines were somehow connected or the same or something, because of elements from both of them showing up in later games such as the Wind Waker. Maybe it was like a stream where it split up and then re-merged?

/末末Child末末末
===OOT=== ====Wind Waker=======
末末Adult末末末/

Something like that? Is that what Aounma's trying to do?

Oh my god, Idea! So assuming the Twilight is the Paradox of breaking Time travel Paradigm (Mage: Ascension pwnz) then what if the end of the game is resolved by re-fusing the timelines or something, leading into TWW/LTTP? (your choice of which comes first.)

Actually, that reminds me of what Zythe used to say back when he was on the boards, that the two timelines merged sometime after MM but before WW. I've got to say, it's an interesting idea; perhaps the monotone bleakness of the twilight is an adult timeline trying to conquer the child timeline, and after the two merge, BAM, Ganon appears and the goddesses flood Hyrule.

But of course, now that I've said that, it won't happen.

That is a great theory, and one which I am personally hoping will happen.

If it does happen, I hope the story is gripping and plausible so that everyone can appreciate it. :D

That does sound like a cool plot, merging two timelines... Heh, reminds me of Chrono Cross.

Yeah. And if TP is seven years after OoT (child), the event that triggers this could be time catching up to the point at which the second timeline was created in the first place.

Yea, and to top it off, the game ends with Link sealing Hyrule in time with the Master Sword, then the Goddesses flood the place!

I found the thing about the Capcom timeline particularly interesting as I have had a couple thoughts about that being the case in the past. The idea Crazy Penguin had about the Twilight being the evil from the Adult Timeline flowing into the Child one is extremely interesting. I'd personally love to see the two timelines merging and I'd like to find out what makes the FS games so important in Aonuma's mind.

I'm beginning to suspect that Aonuma's going to place the first two games and the FS series prior to OoT, myself (the original "Ganon" being the Ganon of the Trident of Darkness and the Triforce "at large" as per the whole "it was the basis of Hyrule's providence" thing). I'm not overly keen on this because it messes with the Triforce pre-OoT, but meh. Could be totally wrong.

YES!!! [I can finally be proven that I alone understand how OOT ended]

Thank you so much for sharing this, I'm so impressed you got to meet the guy and TALK to him! Total w00t.

Are you a member of the game industry or Nintendo by any chance?

I could do with closure on OoT's ending. Everytime I clock the game I keep thing why?

And I'm glad Aonuma wants to bring closure to gamers like me.

TSA's just a really huge Zelda fan as far as I can tell. Though I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo picked him up at some point, since they've apparently sent him to Japan, and he probably has a much better understanding of the fandom than anyone at Nintendo presently does.
