Has anybody heard the song "1985" by Bowling for Soup? I love it. My friend's mom says that it's her song, apparently it describes her very well. Here are the lyrics:

Woo-hoo-hoo

Woo-hoo-hoo

Debbie just hit the wall
She never had it all
One Prozac a day
Husbands a CPA
Her dreams went out the door
When she turned twenty four
Only been with one man
What happen to her plan?

She was gonna be an actress
She was gonna be a star
She was gonna shake her ass
On the hood of White Snake's car
Her yellow SUV, is now the enemy
Looks at her average life
And nothing, has been, alright

Since Bruce Springstein, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2, and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids, in high school
They tell her that she's uncool
But she still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985

Woo-hoo-hoo

1985

Woo-hoo-hoo

She's seen all the classics
She knows every line
Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink
Even Saint Elmo's Fire
She rocked out to wham
Not a big Limp Biscuit fan
Thought she'd get a hand
On a member of Duran Duran

Where's the mini-skirt made of snake skin
And who's the other guy singing in Van Halen
When did reality, become T.V.
What ever happen to sitcoms, game shows

On the radio was

Springstein, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2, and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids, in high school
They tell her that she's uncool
But she's still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985

Woo-hoo-hoo

She hates time, make it stop
When did Motley Crue become classic rock?
And when did Ozzy become an actor?
Please make this stop!
Stop!
Stop!

And bring back

Springstein, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2, and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids, in high school
They tell her that she's uncool
But she's still preoccupied
With 1985

Bruce Springstein, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2, and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids, in high school
They tell her that she's uncool
But she's still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985

I haven't listened to much Bowling For Soup, but I like the sound of this song. Maybe I'll start getting back into them. Thanks Quistis

Wow.

I'm prepared to be bombarded with crumpled up paper balls, but I really hate this song. Its a fluffy, dumb pop song along the lines of, "Stacy's Mom" but not nearly as catchy.

*shrug* imhop.

I agree. My brother won't stop playing it, and he has louder speakers than me, so now I hate it, AND him.

I'll judge when I hear it. But usually Bowling for Soup is great.

EDIT: I downloaded it and listened to it. It did remind me of Stacy's Mom, but its not that bad that you have to spazz about. Christ, have some self-control man; even I expect that from you. <_<

Not the world's best song, not one that I'd listen to over and over, but something you'd get on a mix cd.

hey that is a great song! I am obsessed with anything that has to do with the 80s (obviously :P) and I love that song. I've always liked BFS, but has anyone heard a song by them called "Star Song"? Someone told me that song reminded them of me.

Stacy's Mom is a good song. It brought me much joy.
