Okay, so I'm playing OoT again, and the other day I went and got the Master Sword and stuff, and after listening to Rauru's tale, I started wondering a few things.

Bear with me and my scattered thoughts.

It was mainly just a bunch of questions, like where did Rauru come from? Were there other sages? What happened to them? Did they die when Ganondorf attacked the Temple of Light? Who built the Temple of light? Who built the other temples?

So basically, I'm thinking of a mass of what-ifs.

What if there were other sages, and they were taken out when Ganondorf stormed the Temple of Light, but like Rauru says, the power of the sages remained, or something like that (Fyxe could probably grab a text dump from wherever, she always does). And what exactly happened when Ganondorf did storm the Sacred Realm?

But that's about as far as I got, cos then I got to, where did all these sages come from? Okay, so someone built the Temple of Light. It's situated in the Sacred Realm, which means someone, for some reason, was in the Sacred Realm. Most likely Rauru, right? Or was it the goddesses? So where did he come from? How did he become a sage?

So then you have to wonder about the other temples. Did the goddesses build them or did the sages? And also, why are they in Hyrule rather than the Sacred Realm? And the same thing over again, where did the original sages come from, if there were any, and how did they become sages?

I'm guessing the most likely answer for the Master Sword's creation was always to protect the Triforce but where did it come from? How was it forged? Who by? Does it use power given by the Triforce, or from the goddesses, or somewhere else? It would've been put into the Temple of Time by whoever built the temple, and then sealed the doors, right?

Lastly, who the hell was Kaeppora Gabora, or however it is spelt? The one whom the owl is rumoured to be.

Everything seems to be in the Shiekah Legends. So, all I have to say, is what I would like to see in some new Zelda game would be the stories that you get told from the Shiekah legends being played out. Basically, a beginning to everything.

good questions...
I think the sages were just born as normal people and then taught by Raru how to become a sage...
or maybe Din, Faraore, and Nayru made the sages live as humans until Link got the medallions.

and the Temple of time is just a door that can take you to the sacred realm and it is used to protect the Triforce with the MS.

Interesting questions Lazurukeel. I've been thinking exactly the same thing in some cases, though some questions here are ones I should have asked. I'll put down my thoughts on the matter.

The first question is one I never thought of. Maybe there were all 7 sages before the Door of Time was opened. Then Ganon killed all the sages save Rauru, who saved both himself and Link from being found in the SR. In fact it's a great point that I may include in a theory of mine. Thanks...
The second question about the sages and Ganon is all explained in OoT and aLttP.

SHEIK/ZELDA: "Seven years ago, Ganondorf, the King of Thieves, used the door
you opened in the Temple of Time and entered the Sacred Realm.
...
The strength of the Triforce of Power enabled him to become a mighty, evil
king, but his dark ambitions were not satisfied."

SHEIK/ZELDA: "After you opened the door of time, the Master Sword sealed you
away in the Sacred Realm... Your spirit remained in the Sacred Realm...and then
the Triforce fell into Ganondorf's hands. He went on to invade the Sacred
Realm...
Ganondorf had become the Evil King, and the Sacred Realm became a world of
evil. All of this is an unfortunate coincidence."

RAURU: "My power now has only little influence, even in this Sacred Realm...
Namely, this Chamber of Sages. But there is still hope... The power of the Sages
remains. When the power of all the Sages is awakened..."

The fact there is a temple of light (the ToT alternative in the SR) suggests to me the Triforce was used before but put away to avoid problems. The only time we hear of someone holding the Triforce that could be before OoT is in AoL BS, which is why I recon that after AoL BS, the prince realised he needed to build the ToT and ToL. The sages must have just been a sage that they had at the time.

So then you have to wonder about the other temples. Did the goddesses build them or did the sages? And also, why are they in Hyrule rather than the Sacred Realm? And the same thing over again, where did the original sages come from, if there were any, and how did they become sages?

I think there is only one that opens to the SR, i.e. the ToT. The other temple were probably built by the respective sages of each 'power'.

This is all answered in aLttP Booklet. Essentially, the gods told the people of Hyrule to make something that would repulse any evil that may kidnap the Triforce. The blade of evil's bane was forged. It was called the Master Sword and only a true hero could wield it.

Lastly, who the hell was Kaeppora Gabora, or however it is spelt? The one whom the owl is rumoured to be.

I think he could be one of the sages that recently died. Perhaps the second most powerful sage, who unlike Rauru couldn't save himself, but could at least 'reincarnate'.

Everything seems to be in the Shiekah Legends. So, all I have to say, is what I would like to see in some new Zelda game would be the stories that you get told from the Shiekah legends being played out. Basically, a beginning to everything.

I agree. That is what I hoped TP would be. Imagine seeing the MS being forged, the ToT being created. Meeting Rauru and Gabora when they were just Hylians etc. It would be THE game.

All of the following is completely made up.

Kaepora Gaebora is the owl from LA. After the Wind Fish woke up, he needed a new job. Now he flies around giving cryptic advice to young boys.

Originally, when the Hylia first settled in what was to become known as Hyrule, each small settlement had a wise man who was venerated as the elder of the village. They were the people who passed down the villages legends and knowledge, and knew of magic. As time passed, the settlements banded together into a kingdom for mutual support. From time to time, when a crisis faced the kingdom as a whole, the wise men, or sages, banded together to find a solution - for example, during the Imprisoning War. At these meeting they would be known by the town they hailed from - the Sage of Ruto, the Sage of Rauru, the Sage of Kasuto, etc. Even after the towns themselves were no more, the traditional names continued to be used for each Sage. As time passed, the sages left their mark on much of Hyrule - they designed the temples, created works of magic, and so on. Each sage's responsibility shifted from being to their village, to being for an element of the world - light, spirit, forest, etc. The temples housed the power of each element. The sagacity came to be passed down in their bloodline, rather than going to any successor, as their magic power flowed to their descendants. In time, this power continued to flow even without the bloodline, seeking out whoever was best suited to hold it.

It was mainly just a bunch of questions, like where did Rauru come from? Were there other sages? What happened to them? Did they die when Ganondorf attacked the Temple of Light? Who built the Temple of light? Who built the other temples?

Rauru is an ancient hylian who sealed himself in the Sacred Realm to guard the Triforce, and he somehow gained pseudo-immortality like King Daphnes. There were other Sages, but they died way before Ganondorf's time. The original Sages built all their respective temples.

They were born, and the Goddesses chose them and made them special. See Yahweh and his prophets.

So then you have to wonder about the other temples. Did the goddesses build them or did the sages? And also, why are they in Hyrule rather than the Sacred Realm? And the same thing over again, where did the original sages come from, if there were any, and how did they become sages?

The Temple of Light's purpose is to guard the Triforce, and the other temples acted as part of the original seal...or something. But then they probably got corrupted into worship sites. For the rest, see above.

The Goddesses told the Sages how to forge the sword and probably gave them divine ore. Sages forged the sword and put it where it rested in OOT as part of the original Seal.

Lastly, who the hell was Kaeppora Gabora, or however it is spelt? The one whom the owl is rumoured to be.

The reincarnation of a sage. Now, notice I didn't capitalize "sage." Neither does the stone. I think the Owl was just the reincarnation of some wise old man. Not a prophetic, mystical being like the Sages.

Whoa, that seems like the start of a really good fanfic. I take it you've done some writing before. A full story would be cool - you've got the ability to write.
