Ok. Once again I have picked up the latest NP and read the latest article for TP, including an interview with my fav composer at the moment: Koji Kondo.
It's a simple interview about how the Trailer music (with a bonus two songs only played at the E3 2005 convention), and how it was working with famous conductor Yasuzo Takemoto and arranger Michiru Oshima, and his origins in the Nintendo buisness.
But near the very end of the interview, Kondo talks about how the past Zelda games have had different rhythms and sounds, Kondo quotes:
"You may have noticed that the music for each game in the Zelda series has a slightly different vibe. Majora's mask had an exotic Chinese-opera sound; and Wind Waker had sort of an Irish influence on it's music. As we started thinking about the music for Twilight Princess, I got some guidance from the developers that they'd like music reminiscent of Eastern Europe."
Now, if you didn't know, most of Eastern Europe's countries are of Slavic origin. I have been brought up into the world as a Canadian, but for my 10 long years through elementary and high school, I have learned how to speak and write Ukrainian and learned of my heritage there. Ukraine is pratically central of Eastern Europe (though neighbouring Russia), and in most traditional songs, there are some happy ones and drinking songs also, many songs are slow and solemn. Or in another case, bold yet sad, because at the time many Ukrainians were either going through the remembered famine there and that many many Ukrainians were being surfs and workers for noble people in their rich houses.
But back to the main topic here. Since most countries are similiar to the next, my guess ist that Eastern Europe is the perfect music for TP, because of TP's dark and mysterious storyline. Though I could be wrong. Many music from Eastern Europe is very happy and mellow at some times, but it's just an idea I've had for awhile on my trip.

K. Kondo says that TP's music will be based on Eastern Europe
