Basically this poll is to determine what you guys think is the most inventive and interesting weapon/item, primarily in terms of puzzle solving but also in terms of pure enjoyment factor. I've therefore chosen some items that I would consider the most unique and interesting in the series. In some cases I've limited it to the appearance of an item in a specific game.

Obviously I've left out some of the more regular items like the Bombs, as useful as they may be, stuff like that is a common Zelda element and is more of a basic tool than anything.

I voted for the Level 2 Fire Rod. It was interesting to solve puzzles by creating 4 blocks and its also great how those four blocks can be used as weapons.

(Fyxe, Its the Cane of Somaria that functions like Level 2 Fire Rod. The cane of Byrna makes you invincible)

Fyxe, go play OOA. Somaria is the red cane that creates blocks. Its the same in ALttP.

Shit, my eyes lie to me. I checked the ALttP manual before I did the poll. I don't know why I got that wrong.

Byrna suits the red one better, damnit. Oh well. Somaria then. Feckin' semantics. You know what I meant.

If a mod could edit the poll accordingly that would be handy.
I don't bloody well know why I got that wrong. What the hell.

I picked the magnetic gloves, it's....fun to move around with them, especially when you have to switch polarity, in mid-air to go to some places.

Ugh I voted for the hookshot, but I meant to vote for TWW's boomarang. Well the hookshot still rocks.

I hope EVERYBODY doesn't vote for the Hookshot. I mean, yeah, it's cool, but it is just a variation on a grappling hook, really.

I'd say the Hyoi Pear was one of the most fun and ingenious items...

And I've fixed your choice, MidnightSun.

I liked the magnetic gloves because I liked the boss you fought with them in OoS, Dig Dogger, wasn't it?

And the only reason that the Hookshot is winning is because OoT is a popular game for n00bs and such.

Yeah but the hook/longshot is the most versatile item created out of the lot.

Name another item that lets you do so many things in one.

They let you do one thing. Lift heavy objects. Woooo.

Come to think of it, I'd put the hookshot on a par with TWW Boomerang. Both can kill and grab, but whilst one can hoist you to places, the other can go for multiple targets in one hit.

Magic powder has a ridiculous amount of uses or things to experiment on with, although I don't ever recall turning a cucco into a person. Which game was that?
I have to admit I'm showing my age a bit because when I think of the hookshot I think of LA. It virtually replaced my sword in that game, thats how useful it was. I think the magic powder still had more uses though.

That was ALttP. One of the houses in Kakariko has little in it but a chicken in a pot. Sprinkle Magic Powder on this chicken to turn it into a person, who'll be somewhat annoyed.

The Hookshot is overrated. Great, but overrated.

Yeah it's overrated. But it is damn useful in of situations.

Not nearly as useful as the grappling hook.

Not nearly as useful as the sword.

That doesn't make it the most ingenious item. Just makes it ONE of the most handy to have in a few situations.

Sword and Shield excluded, I used the hookshot in all my games more than I used anything else, including the boomerang and magic powder.

I always use the hookshot as much as possible too... Saves arrows. But it's a bit too slow to hit flying Keese, often...

Yeah Keese I use arrows. Sometimes if I've got a heap of arrows to waste, I'll use the bow just to have some fun, though.
