Can anyone get me the quote where Tingle makes a reference to Majora's Mask in TWW...I've been searching high and low for this...I really don't know much of what it's all about.

The legend itself is a reference to MM. It talks about how Tingle aided the Hero of Time with his maps, which happened in MM.

Isn't it something like, on the island where Tingle comes from there's a tradition that when the boys come of age they get a costume and travel the world, something paralleling the traditions of Link's island I believe, but don't quote me on it, I'm pretty prone to getting things mixed up.

Really though, it doesn't make much sense, we know for a fact that Termina is in a parallel dimension, and that there is a very small chance of somebody from Termina coming to Hyrule, but Tingle is also in the FSA, which is a bit confusing. Of course we could say that because there is more or less an altered version of each person in Hyrule living in Termina that there are also two copies of Tingle, of course, that's taking a lot of liberties. Any better explanation? I'm confused...

Then again, it could just be a running gag which has nothing to do with the timeline or history whatsoever...

A Tingle also turns up in one of the Oracle games (Ages, I believe) - just thought I'd round out the list of Tingle appearances.

I think Nintendo is following a simple policy: Add Tingles now, Explain Tingles later.

It's mainly just a parody of the legend told at the beginning of TWW, but instead of boys on wearing the Hero's clothes when they come of age, it's men wearing Tingle's clothes when they turn 35. Of course, instead of doing this in reverence to the Hero of Time, they do it in reverence to the first Tingle, without whom the Hero of Time would have been mapless. I think there's also some allusion to the first Tingle finally being granted his wish of becoming a fairy.

Didn't Tingle also aid Link with his maps in OOT...? If so...whatever Tingle said...is it only referencing MM...? Is there a quote that I can see, in which he is talking exactly about MM.... If the quote doesn't mention anything about MM...then how are we to know that this Tingle, knows about MM and is maybe referring to OOT. I'm not saying that is doesn't, considering I haven't seened it...but just in case.

No, Tingle's only in MM, not OoT.

However, the Legend of the Fairy seems a little odd to me... It says that Tingle appeared before Link and saved him when all was lost. Yet, in reality you don't need Tingle at all in MM. You don't need his maps. And Tingle never offers to help you. Maybe Tingle has a parallel in Hyrule, who is the one mentioned in the Legend of the fairy?

Or maybe the Legend of the fairy is an over-exaggeration of the real advents?

I like the idea that Tingle is an oddity, kinda like the way Tolkien never really explained Tom Bombadil's nature in Lord Of The Rings. He just was. Imagine if Tingle was some kind of all-powerful and immortal but hopelessly clueless and naive being!

I think you're mistaken - Tingle certainly isn't in OoT! Where are you thinking of?

Early in OOT close to Lon Lon Ranch...I believe close to there...there is a boulder that u have to blast with a goron bomb or something...somwhere in that area...a guy dressed in green is floating up and down on a balloon from behind a wall or something...u bust his balloon with your sling shot or arrow...the guy talks about his obsession with fairies...and he makes a goofy sound when he leaves...that sounds like Tingle.

There's no Tingle in OoT.

And? The fact is Tingle is there to give you maps to help you along the way. It's optional, but that's merely a gameplay mechanic. We have to assume that Link did everything on his quest.

That's in Majora's Mask. And it's the Romani Ranch being led to, by Milk Road.

I think the "Legend of the Fairy" is kind of proof that MM happened in the same timeline as WW.

It could be the tingle from OoA that is being referred to since (I think) you need his help to get past a certain point in the game. He has an item you need or something like that.

He gives you the map to the Sea of Storms, if I remember correctly.

Except that would mean Oracles Link is also OoT/MM Link, which doesn't make sense any way you put it.

As far as I can see it's supposed to seem odd. It's supposed to be funny, I mean, we all know that Tingle wasn't needed in MM, but that's not the way that Tingle would have told it, it wouldn't be in his character to say it how it is. If he were to pass on a legend it would be that he was absolutely a deciding factor in anything that he ever did no matter what. That's the mark of a good story teller. So in that regard I agree with Khallos.

So where or when in the TWW did Tingle mention the Legend of the Fairy story? Cuz I can't find it anywhere...do you have to do something special to come across that quote...Not that don't believe it didn't happen...but I just like to see things for myself.... Can anyone help in that regard?

It was the 1st Tingle's alteration of the story, that made him the "Navi" of the tale. It is because of that when men turn 40 on some land of Tingles (let us never go there) they become Tingles so to speak just like how on Outset, boys become Link-wannabes.

Take a GBA to Tower of the Gods and let Tingle go with you, you can decode the story in there.

I hate when people edit their posts to make it so your posts don't make sense. Argh, Wolf O'Donnel!

Anyway, Hero, they should make a Zelda anthology that clears it up. That'd be the ultimate game manual.

Of course God knows people will be fighting tooth and nail to prove an official order doesn't count.

Well, Metroid has an official order now that makes sense to me but then again Metroid only has one person and no complicated backstory besides the Chozo Lore so I guess it's simpler.

Ah, Mario storyline is so much simpler: "The order they are released in, is THE order."
