THIS RPG IS OF A HIGH CALIBUR.

PART I

Era/Year/Age/Epoch/Eon: This RPG is set in the near future. It’s a little more technologically advanced than today’s societies but not quite Minority Report.

Location: Well…..here. Look around, buddy. You’re in it. To be specific it is a relatively large, nameless city. Something similar to LA, New York, San Fran, etc. It just doesn’t have a name (this avoids any unnecessary specifics).

Genre: Sci-fi Action with a dash of humour and gun-blazing adventure.

Characters: This RPG is centered around Darien Anderis and Edward Don. Other characters are welcome, but see the rules below for more information regarding this.

- Goals:

Edward begins with two goals: to stay alive, and to kill Sarge (see character bio). Due to certain events that occur later on (see below), Edward is presented with a third: unlock the city, and get the hell out.

Darien’s goals match Edward’s, only he doesn’t give a damn about Sarge. DM is his target, and due to the same events occurring, Darien’s main goal also changes to escaping the city.

Akina has just been locked in a shielded lab whilst the entire building is being flooded with radiation. The first thing on her mind is to get the hell out of those laboratories as well as staying alive at the same time. After certain events unfold later in the story, she is intent on finding out who locked her in the laboratory; what is really going down inside the DM Corporation; and escaping the city alive. In order to do the latter, however, she will need the assistance of Darien and Edward, which means that any left-over feelings between her and Darien will need to be reconciled or laid to rest.

Sarge is still at large and knows that Edward is after him. Sarge’s whereabouts are unknown, as are his goals.

- Roles:

- Edward and Darien both play a very similar role. Both would be classed as the ‘heroes’ of the story; their role throughout the entire story stands to basically beat the bad guys.

- Akina’s role throughout the story would be similar to that of a side-kick. However, she has her own goals and her own motivation, which means that she is somewhat independent of the main two characters as well.

- Dominenko Shapiroff is one of the two main villains. His role, his goals, and his motivation are all subjects that are to be revealed within the story.

- Sarge is the other major villain within the story. As with Dominenko, his role within the plotline is yet to be revealed.

PART II

Like all businesses, Dyne Mechanics began small, however, times of war both accelerated and amplified their growth. Eventually, the small robotics lab grew to encompass all branches of technology and its ever-growing influence has been used to secure lucrative local and government contracts. Over the span of half a decade, DM expanded to become the largest supplier of military technology on earth. In the dawn of the new technological age, DM began to dig its hands deeper into biological research, secretly on lookout for new potential weapons technologies.

Darien's father was one of DM’s geneticists. During his research, he stumbled upon DM’s intentions to develop military applications for what he was developing as a harmless vaccine. Considering DM was not contracted to develop military applications, and not wanting to risk his work falling into the wrong hands, Darien’s father decided to shut down the project that he had initiated. DM, however, refused to shut down the project, prompting Darien's father to threaten to take it public. He died mysteriously soon afterwards.

Darien, barely out of high school, became enraged at the fact that after an "extensive" investigation, the police had not come up with so much as a suspect in the murder. He became obsessed with discovering his father's murderer. His obsession strained and ultimately shattered Darien's long time relationship with his girlfriend. After three years of searching, Darien, in his early twenties, finally discovered DM at the root of his father's murder. The police, however, were of little use, refusing to re-open the case or even open an investigation into the matter. However, Darien was not about to let go of his investigation, which cost him a relationship and three years of his life. Determined to make them pay, Darien declared his own personal war on DM. Over the course of a few weeks, Darien sabotaged many of DM's projects and businesses, the attention sending him into hiding from the police. Darien, however, seemed unstoppable and eluded police, prompting DM to take drastic action.

Laying down a huge amount of money, DM hired a small army of assassins to hunt down and deliver Darien to DM, offering a huge bonus to the one who brought him in. One of these assassins was a man who went by the name of Edward, extremely intelligent and efficient. As the hunt began, Edward was able to get a lead quickly and eventually track down Darien. He and Darien confronted each other in a chase that spanned nearly half the city and left a massive amount of property damage in its wake. When the chase ended in an abandoned building, many of the other assassins revealed themselves. The other assassins had formed something of an alliance in order to capture the prize, and to get to it first, they had followed Edward, who they knew was hot on the trail since day one. Edward, obviously displeased at having his prize stolen, confronted the group of assassins. The leader of the group shot Edward, sending him to the floor, but he only feigned unconsciousness. As the rest of the assassins moved in on Darien, their leader opened fire, taking down his own men so he could take credit for the capture himself. At this point Darien, and Edward, though injured, opened fire, turning the building into a shooting gallery. At the end, however, the assassins' leader escaped alive, and Edward was still injured.

Darien had also escaped but Edward was not about to lose his target. Edward eventually tracked down Darien once more and pursued him to a small DM laboratory. However, Darien knew he was there, and revealed to Edward that he too was now on DM’s hit-list. After disregarding Darien as a target, Edward went in search of Sarge and Darien continued to harass the DM Corporation. The two eventually met again during a double-heist on a major DM establishment, each there for his own reason. Following a number of shoot-outs, the two negotiated and formed a truce, which gradually became a friendship.

For six years Darien and Edward have been moving beneath the radar; living outside the grid, causing havoc, and bringing mayhem upon the remnants of what was once the mighty DM Corporation. Their campaign, however, is about to get worse.

A lot can change in six years. Increased activities from underground factions have exhausted many of DM’s funds in containment. Such exhaustions have strained DM’s research budgets and strained production and distribution. Such weakenings have opened the door to competition, competition which DM is in no condition to handle. As its competition grows and DM’s spheres of influence shrink, DM’s downfall is all but certain.

With DM on the verge of financial collapse, there has been a recent exodus of scientists and researchers. Most that remain are students working on degrees or senior researchers now too old to start over elsewhere. It is in this climate that one researcher seeks to leave DM with research that will make it all the easier for him to buy into the competition.

After a number of specimens and research documents are stolen from a DM laboratory, a nuclear accident takes place within the lab itself. A portion of the city is engulfed in radiation, and parts of the population slowly begin to experience grotesque mutations, turning them into gruesome, inconceivable creatures. In a panic, the local law enforcement has declared martial law, their first act being to isolate the irradiated sections of the city, then proceeding to quarantine the city itself by collapsing buildings along the edges of the city and hastily erecting great armored walls. Within the city the internal quarantines are failing, threatening to unleash the mutated monstrosities upon the city. Darien and Edward are in the midst of hell. What they see, however, is not all it seems to be. The public is in panic, wondering why the militias refuse to allow the residents to flee the city. An old acquaintance of Darien’s appears with an interesting tale. Edward’s old rivalries take a turn towards the intense. Investigations into the DM laboratory, and the accident that happened there lead to staggering revelations about what DM have been up to. Both Edward and Darien come to a startling halt as their mortality and skills are put to the ultimate test as the DM Corporation has left behind a few surprises for Darien and Edward to unearth.

PART III

All standard RPG rules apply. These include god-playing, controlling other peoples’ characters without permission, and making no contribution to the story whatsoever.

Specific rules are as follows:

In order to join, one must PM either DarkLink_14, or myself. No PM, no joining. Within this PM, one must include the goals, motivation, and purpose of one’s character within THIS RPG, as well as a link to one’s original character submission.

Both DL and I reserve the ability to kick whomever we want from this RPG if we find sufficient reason to do so. This includes disobeying the rules that have been set, taking the story completely away from its original plotline, and really bad writing. Warnings will be given prior to a booting. If an offense is repeated, a booting up one’s ass will follow. If posting after a booting continues, the offending person no longer continues being our problem, but DJ’s victim.

Well....while it's not saying much, it's the nicest submission I've seen 'round these parts in awhile, and I see no major quarrels with it.

Find some interest - we'll talk regardless of finding some or not afterwards.

I don't know how much I'll be able to contribute to be honest. Minor supporting roles aren't really my thing. It seems awesome nonetheless and I'll give a try.
