Dude, not cool. Making a Jesus joke is one thing, but to make one that's wholey innaccurate and totally goes against character of whom he was supposed to be?

Truth be told, I just thought of the name originally because I stared at a "Erika's Kindness" card and the picture.
Atleast it isn't what I ORIGINALLY thought, which was "Jesus's Testicular Cancer" which I dubbed too specific and offensive.
I know its offensive, and thusly wrote "WARNING OFFENSIVE". So, I expected people to be angry at this card.
If anything, just find the picture funny. I'll be happy.
I plan on making less offensive (if at all) Jesus vs. Satan cards in memory of the not-even-a-year-old-or-is-it? Aqua vs. Magma cards.
Man... Jesus's Diglett vs. Satan's Minun. Can't wait.

lol, people need to look at this from both perspectives, to some its offensive, and to some its humorous. i find it humorous, with no intended stab at jesus, or religion.
it would be like making one about George Bush, and the outcome causing Explosion, or Rockslide.
Or alternatively a political card with an outcome that causes hypnosis.
we may find those last two simply hilarious but there will be people out there who might find that offensive.
Everyone is bound to find something offensive about something else, somethings more then others, but its just a bit of twisted humor, thats all, like i said, not an intended stab at jesus or religion.

I made a FLCL card called NEVER KNOWS BEST that has Haruka smoking on it and you get Poisoned if you use it.
It's just to make light of things. What makes the card offensive is really just the fact that Jesus and Cancer are together. I could put almost any other word there and it be unoffensive to some people.
If it was Satan's Secret Cancer would it still be funny? No. It'd be less offensive somehow, but not as funny.

I love Jesus jokes. In fact, I made a Jesus card myself, but for Magic the Gathering. I'm not going to get into the whole "christians are too senstiive" bit because this is the wrong place, but just know that I found it funny.
And to be absolutely honest, I dont understand what's offensive at all about it. The card has NOTHING to do with Jesus. He's just in the picture and the title. Frankly, I dont see how it even makes fun of Jesus. *sigh* Oh well.

Well...can't say I'd call it accurate, but art is art, and it's...well warned. If Khuffie or too many other people want it pulled down, then we'll worry about that...yeah.

Just so everyone knows, I am fully aware that cancer isn't funny. My mom had breast cancer when I was in 4th grade and I could've lost her. I make jokes about it to ease myself. Just like I sometimes make drug jokes, despite my clear hate for them because my uncle died from an OD. It doesn't mean I am insensitive. Trust me. I could cry at any given moment about this kind of stuff. I just find this as a way to deal with it and make it slightly funny. I'm not going to argue with anyone about religious stuff though. I just think some people overreact about religion (like people offended by "Oh my God!", which I have known my share of) and that's all I'll say.
Really, I only came up with the name and the art. The name I didn't plan on keeping initially, but my friend thought it was funny and came up with what the card did, which wasn't actually supposed to be funny. It was just supposed actually be useful in some way and have something to do with the name.
So actually, it was planned out to be effective as a real card, not to be funny. The picture was meant to be funny and really that was it. It was just random and that's all it ever should be.

Heh, I got a chuckle out of it.
And no, Cancer's not funny, but like Clay said, it's his way of expressing his hatred for it. Everyone has different ways of expressing their feelings about something. Some use humor, some use violence. Give him a break. Some Art offends someone, but there's no need to get so riled up about it.

I can see the humour in it, good work, but nonetheless, I didn't smile. At all. The antithesis to that card would be someone making a card about a gay man and using some reference to giving the other's pokemon AIDS or something like that. Funny? I think not. It is the same, bad-tasting humour.

How is that the antithesis? What does Jesus have to do with cancer?
Nothing, as far as I know, which is why there's nothing offensive about the card. You could say it's bad because it makes fun of cancer, buuut I don't see anything sacreligious.

Except for the fact that it implies that Jesus is giving them cancer? Oh no, nothing wrong. I'm not offended myself, but I can at least still see what could offend people. It's simply bad humour. I think you'll find that you not finding it offensive does not mean that others won't.
And as for the antithesis, well, religion and homosexuality don't exactly go hand in hand.

I find myself agreeing with DJ et al.
I also have to say: the joke is too much of a non-sequitur to be funny. I fail to see any correlation between Jesus and cancer.
At least the AIDS thing, offensive as it may be, would have counted as a joke (due to the percieved association of AIDs with homosexuals).

Yes, this is sensitive material, but it doesn't really make that much sense (the card I mean) for it to be classed as a Controversial topic and therefore moved accordingly. Of course it provokes negative reaction from religious (and equally non-religious people), but because of the fact Jesus is not explicitly being made fun of makes this acceptable as a work of art, which is what it is.
Okay, it also goes down the cancer route, and whether this card is too strong or not boils down to your own personal taste of humour. Personally, I can see the funny side of this sort of thing, but my own tastes are irrelevant. This sort of thing is offensive to people, but the manner in which this has been presented I judge to be borderline and will not be removed unless the other admins disagree with me.
What will be happening, however, is all debate about how offensive or not this card is will cease. If you wish, create a new topic in the Controversial forum and link back to here.
