Era/Year/Age/Epoch/Eon: Set in our times. The modern world.
.
Location:
The story takes place in a city called LAville. Partly because I like the name, and partly because its just a city that has a university in it. The name of the city isn't all that important, but the fact that it is a city that is not separated that far from the real world.
IE Tis just an average town, could be the town right next to you. Always knew they were weird over there.
The city has lush mountainscapes around it on one side, and a nice beach on the other side. It looks like a paradise, with all those lovely summer days where you can just frolic around on the sand, or grass if you prefer it.
The main action takes place in at LAville University, a university that seems like any other, till you realise what you can study there. At this university people can study degrees in battle magic, or degrees focusing on a certain type of power, like the study of teleknesis. There are also the other more standard type of degrees, like medicine, communication, engineering or phsysics, but they are generally frowned upon by most of the students, claming them to be outdated and rather pointless.
This is a university that encourages "gifted" students to come and study further, whether it be in their specific area of giftedness or just a generic degree. This is a place where "gifted" people can develop their skills,a nd lead out their lives without fear of humiliation. In this place your more likely going to be picked on if your not "gifted"
Genre: I guess its a combination of action, fantasy and real life. There is a chance for romance to also be thrown into that mix, because a story isn't all that interesting without some sexual tension and banter going on.
Source: Original, but I got the idea from an RPG of old, called "School".
Characters: At the moment I have not yet developed the my characters for this story, yet there are no like major enemy characters that people have to warned about, If the story gets going then I'm happy for people to create evil, manipulative characters, but bare in mind that its based around the real lives of these people, not just blowing things up, like many stories degrade into.
Part II
In this cruel and unforgiving world we live in, life is hell. People are afraid to show who they truly are, even around their friends. People have to hide who they may truly be from those closest to them, for fear of being ridiculed and known of as different. I know of people who ended throwing themselves off cliffs because they knew they didn’t fit into this rigid society, and saw ending their lives as the only solution. Too many of my friends are now gone, and society has a major problem on its hands.
But, imagine a world where people didn’t have to hide their identities. A world where people could learn, laugh and live out their live in peace and happiness, not caring whether they were of different race, gender, or whether they were “gifted”. Life would be great. Of course this would never happen, not even in dreams. But, one town has taken a major step in the right direction. That’s right, there is a town called LAville that allows “gifted” people to study and not be afraid of being singled out or hunted down like animals. At the LAville university people from all walks of life co exist with eachother, just getting on with life. There are a range of interesting things to study, and courses that people will never have even heard of. This is a truly unique and inviting place.
The best thing about this place is that students are invited to live on campus at a rather cheap rate, and they get fed, which on a student’s budget, comes in handy. There are programs where people with “gifts” can train their skills some more and get tutored by other people with “gifts.” On some days it’s not unusual to see people throwing balls of fire at each other, or somebody trying to make an impromptu storm appear in the sky. People are encouraged to grow in many ways at this place.
One important thing to note about this wonderful place is that all the people seem to get along. There are never any clashes of personalities or bickering among the students, and people never separate into clichés or gangs. There are no wars between students and teachers, and nobody on the campus ever needs to walk around at night with fear of having their eyeballs gouged out by an Egyptian monk with an anger problem.
So come, stay, and study at our wonderful university. LAville University is a place that encourages study, acceptance and most importantly fun for all people. We look forward to seeing your lovely face set on fire by one of our unexperienced first year “practical chemistry” students. Um, you are going to edit that comment out aren’t you? Yeah, cool. We don’t want them knowing what really goes on here.
Okay. So that’s the general gist of the story line. It is set in a university where “gifted” people can study without fear of being hunted down and shot. It’s loosely based around the old “School” RPG that some older members may remember. This is a character driven RPG which means that there is no main “quest” that goes on. Its more about the daily lives of students who are “gifted” rather than hunting down a bad guy. (By” Gifted” I mean they could be labelled mutants, or be super powered beings, or be able to do things that most people cant. Like one guy in particular might be able to send flames out through his backside, which, besides hurting a lot, may have a practical purpose. )
Dramas will happen, people will fight, gangs will form, somebody will inevitably GODplay and all the other characters will have to join together to take them down, and then get DJ to ban them from the RPGs section. There are many storylines that can take place. I’m leaving it fairly open, but please don’t turn this into a “He’s got the magical gem, we must hunt him down and kill him or he will take over the world, then start cracking jokes about going to Uranus, and we’ll all die… etc” story. This is a story about people interacting with other people.
Part III
Rules. There aren’t many other than the normal rules. Yet I have to stress one point. This is a CHARACTER driven story. NOT A QUEST! Please don’t end up leading us on a chase of a Japanese ninja astronaught so he can save us from the evil dinosaur running around.
And another thing. DON’T GOD PLAY!!
The End.
Note*
DJ, this may need a lot of work. But I hope you get the general gist of what I am trying to do. Please add any ideas you have, and pull apart the story as you see fit.

2. Do not post in an unapproved thread unless you are the person submitting it. For every post in an unapproved thread that you make, you will be suspended for one (1) week, though the limit will be about a month and you will be locked out of the RPG forums for one (1) month per post, with no limits. For example, if Little Jill submits an RPG and Little Billy posts in it three times, he has three weeks suspension and will not be allowed back into the RPG forums for three months.
One Week Suspension and One Month Lock out.
Anyway, good and well thought out Goose, and yes, I see the general concept just fine. It sounds good and all, but I'm more worried about whether or not the RPG will, even after gathering interest, will be able to perpetuate itself after approval in this freeform style. Personally, I love free form RPG's and they always turn out the best, but that's provided that they get popular enough. It'd be good to add a sort of focus for the RPG, though no one that people have to follow rigidly or whatnot. Are there any sorts of cliques goin on? Any kindofstuden groups, or instructor groups, anythin?
Keep it up!

I was sort of hoping to get all the old RPers to come and join in on this one. If I could get you (DJ), Korhend, Veteran, Jaina, Emi, Chik and any others that wanted in on this story. New people would be great, but just an added bonus. I went for the free form idea to attract more people, and show them that RPing is more than just hunting down a bad guy. To show them what the RPGs used to be like around here. (No bitterness meant, Just trying to create something good.)
I've got Tony in as my first character, but I'm going to introduce a common enemy, somebody in a position of power, who isn't "gifted" and hates the idea of those "gifted" freaks coming to study at the university. I think his name is Prof Smyth, and he's going to lead an underground movement somewhat like the KKK, against "gifted" students. If that isn't too controversial that is. I"ll flesh him out tommorrow.
Two main Cliques. "Gifted" and "Normals" The focus for the RPG will be a constant struggle between the "gifted" and "Normals" students and teachers alike. It will be a challenge for people to form relationships outside their clique and develop relationships. One possible story could a tragic love story between a gifted and a normal, aptly titled "Romeo and Juliet" or a story of betrail, not unlike "Othello." No, I"m not trying to rip off Shakespeares work as my own, but what we have here is a tale of two groups of people forced together in a situation and left to work things out.
People will be able to play the roles of
a) "Gifted" student who hates everybody who's not gifted.
B) The "gifted" student who hides his/her gifts because he/she hates what he/she really is.
c) The resident smart arse.
Ect, you get the point.
Those are a few ideas. What do you think?

The Gifted students.
There are many people in this world that we live in. Some have certain gifts, like the ability to run fast, or the steady hand to perform heart surgery, once trained. Others have more unusual gifts, these people are often thought of as freaks, or mutants, or the spawn of Satan and such. I have heard of an academy for highschool students for such as these, but that was far in the past, and it had something to do with the letter X, yet I don’t know how.
However, there is a place in these days of ours, where gifted students can come and study, and not be afraid of being beheaded, splayed, or detonated. This is LAville University.
In the gifted are of the school, the students arrange eachother into four separate houses, or groups if you like. These groups are based around the general elements, with the students gifted in fire based abilities being grouped into that particular house. The students live with those that are like themselves in so called, frat houses, and often have competitions between these houses. They are as such.
The Fire house - The Sparkies.
All those that are gifted with abilities that are loosely based around fire go into this group. The sparkies are known to be a hotheaded group that are very passionate about what they do and who they are. They often get into fights around the campus with other gifted students, but even more with Normal students. It’s the normals that the fire house openly hates. They don’t even try to hide the hate; they just let it out to fester like an open wound. People who can throw fire, or breath it, or turn into fire balls are often revered in this house, but even those that can fade into smoke, or used their fingers as lighters are put into the house, even if they don’t have the highest standing. A group of people that aren’t to be taken lightly.
The Water house. - The Waves.
The waves are known to be an easy going group of students who like to chill and go with the flow. They don’t openly hate anybody; they just treat all those that aren’t of their group with a certain amount of pity, because nobody is as cool as the waves. Known for their vanity, even if they do have exceptional looks, these people tend to value others on how they look, and therefore, automatically inferior to themselves. There are exceptions to this case however. People who have water based abilities are grouped into this house, whether that be the ability to cause thunderous rain, or cry tears of death. An easygoing, yet vain group of people.
The Earth House. - The Boulders.
Known for their love of sport, and sport, and sport, the boulders are a group of people that are pretty stable in demeanour. They only openly hate one group of people, and those are the free thinkers of the wind house. They don’t really hate the normals, just pity them because they don’t have the advantages that the boulders do in sport. The boulders are very institutionalised, and they have ranks of order that are very strict, and it is very rare that somebody speaks out of turn. They all know who runs the show. Generally the one with the smallest brain, yet the biggest muscles. They love order, and are afraid of individual thought. You’ll often find a lot of mathematicians coming out of this house, that’s if they can get time off the field to study.
The wind house. - The hawks.
The hawks are known for their mystery. They don’t generally hang around with eachother, preferring their own company to those of others. They try to stay out of the wars, preferring to further their own studies, or just be left in peace. The smallest house by far, the hawks have a secretive way of behaving, and yet most of them have a certain sense of peace, purpose and power. It’s their creed. They are great in their fields of study that require a lot of individual thought, like communication and history, and these people aren’t afraid to be heard. Yet the ways they do it are so sneaky. People who are able to control the wind are thrown into this house, and even those that are just able to fade away, or get their powers from the sky. The hawks like their privacy, and are not afraid to peck out the eyes of any enemy.
The gifted students get grouped into those houses when they first show up at the university, and rarely emerge out of their groups, unless forced to by a certain class.
The Normal students.
There are a few groups of normal students. There are those that are just glad to be at university to study, those that hate gifted students, and those that don’t give a damn.
The normal normals. - The plains.
These are students that just came to study, even if it was the wrong university. They don’t really stand out much, and they only live together to ensure their safety. People tend to leave them be most of the time, but they do keep a lot of fire extinguishers handy.
The ones that hate gifted students. - The terrors.
These guys just hate all gifted students. They don’t even like the hawks, who stay of their way. They are reminiscent of the jocks that may live at other universities and colleges. The head of this house is Mr Smyth, and most of these guys refer to him as a demigod, if not their eternal leader. A bunch of hateful harries that need a good smack on the bottom.
The "I don’t give a damns" students. - The potheads.
Not much to say about these guys, apart from the fact that they like to smoke drugs. They don’t care either way. They make up most of the arts students, and a lot of the biology and hydroponic students.
So to say the least, there are groups that just don’t get along at the university.
