I was thinking, maybe LA could use a new skin, one pertaining to Zelda to spiffy this board up? It is a Zelda board, and so I feel that a Zelda related skin (maybe like a forest green one), could be added as an option here? I could possibly make a header banner for the top of the skin and customd design the little buttons that would go along with it. (New Reply, New Thread, Quote, Edit Post, Quick Reply, etc.) Also new icons for closed, sticky, hot, etc. topic with Zelda related characters. Sure, the aliens are cool, don't get me wrong :cool:, but I think a Zelda skin would be excellent. Maybe even a Link image in the background of the board could be added on, with everything else scrolling over it? I don't know, it's just a thought that came across my mind.

It would be nice if all the members of Art Works came together and made a nice big, new skin. Khuffie's promised skins for the dorms and the only somewhat Zelda-ish skin is the one in the Zelda forums. And I agree, green would really suit the forums.

Yep, I looked at the Zelda forums, and they look great and should stay like that. I just meant for the whole board all together, simply having an option of switching to a Zelda themed skin, which could be the default as well so newcomers will feel like they are in a more Zelda-like environment. I just think it would be neat to come here everday seeing a Zelda environment right when I view the board. I have been looking at other boards to see what kind of designs they have regarding the video game series they have represented on their board. A couple of them caught my eye and made me think about making a new skin overall for this lovely board.

We're trying to start up a project like this now in Art Works. If we can get some good artists (both graphics and otherwise) and someone with a program for making vB skin files... and Khuffie's permission maybe we can design our own fancy one?

Hey, somehow I'm just as clueless about the new dorms as you are, 13 You'd think, being an admin and all, that I'd have some idea about what is going on around here, but noooo. Hmmph.

You know what I want? A skin with less images. Or at least something to make so it doesn't take forever for the page to load. XP

Alright, I've begun working a little on the new skin, with a whole idea in my mind. Below are four images, which can be used for side images at the bottom of the board for birthdays, and for members. There are two versions of each image (members and birthdays), and so I need you guys to decide which one is best for the side image. You know how the posty note is the image for birthdays and the alien heads is the image for members? I was thinking of replacing those for the new skin, or we could do it now with these images.

hehe, thanks for the input you everyone. Once we decide which two will be used, an admin or Khuff could set them up for the skin and right after we decide the two images, for the default skin if they wanted to.

What is the theme? Is it green, sprite-based, lively, cheery Zelda? Or are there more specifications? And how big are buttons and icons allowed to be?

Alright, I made a set of new icons for the Stats image instead of the graph~

The theme is going to be a Zelda theme, and yes it will be green. It mainly is sprite based, for icons and such, but the banner will be done graphically (I have an idea in my mind that I would like to try). The icons/buttons need not to be too big, but I'll figure out the right measurements later. I'm still browsing other boards to see what they have for their designs.

And on your note before- I don't believe any of the Admins besides Khuffie have access to changing the board skins. Which is why we've been after his butt for several months about dorm skins.

One thing to consider when making a skin... It's... rather difficult to make a skin. I've looked at the process and... ouch.

What I would suggest is looking at the two current ones (Blue Commune and Radio Dream) and basing your skin off just being image alterations of those.

Do you have to write it in CSS? I think Goth Kirby knows a little about writing skins in CSS...

hmm, image alterations might work actually. I can make little icons and such to suit those boards. in fact, the three above can be used for that.
