1) Art Works is not specifically for hand-drawn works. It can be for anything artistic, whether it be hand/computer drawn pictures, poetry, fanfics or short stories, wallpapers, sprites, flash movies, galleries of your works, comics, short computer games...if you made it, go for it!
2) Most drawings aren't well marked as drawings in the title or subtitle of the thread, but it's recommended that whatever kind of piece you've created, you say it in the title or beginning of the thread. Poetry? Wallpaper? Label it so people know what they're looking at.
3) Please try to keep the maximum height or width of any pictures somewhere under 1500 pixels, and it's highly recommended that it be under 1000 pixels. We have many 56k users here, and they'd like to be able to enjoy your art as well without killing their computer. I understand that wallpapers are often better if they're larger, but if the picture is of a great size and it's uploaded to LA (and thus we see a smaller version that we can click), please SAY that it's large, don't just expect us to click it and find out for ourselves.
4) Everything on this forum MUST BE ORIGINAL. If you significantly edited a picture drawn by someone else, or have drawn your own version of another picture, that is allowable. However, if direct plagiarism of any pictures, writings, or other works is suspected, it may result in you getting an automatic ban from the whole of LA. Saying "I'm sorry" will not cut it.
5) The best way to fight plagiarism is to put marks on your work. We highly appreciate that you put a watermark or signature (preferably a non-digitally drawn one) somewhere on your picture, especially if your artistic style is not widely known to LA. You will likely not be punished if you forget to put a mark or you find difficulty in doing so, but your art could be stolen online, and it will not help your case to have no proof of ownership if we suspect your art is not original.
6) Try to keep things clean. A certain amount of nudity is allowed, but anything that's seen as blatantly in bad taste is not tolerated, and we recommend that you give a warning in the title of your picture if it has any nudity. Excessive swearing in your writings goes under the same heading as Rule 3 of LA:
There are currently no limits on violence (IE: Blood is allowed) but I think you know where the line is. Don't pass it.Profanity is allowed, however please limit the use of such to a manner which is not extensive or gratuitous. In other words, you're allowed to curse, but don't do so to the point where every other word is a curse word for no reason. Use of profanity in the context of insults is not allowed.
7) NO INSULTS. You do not say "that arm looks way too fat" or "are you an amateur at this or what?" If you want your art to be graded, commented on in any manner that may not only be positive, or in short you wish for comments on how to improve your art, please say so. Otherwise, it is frowned upon to see art being criticized when the person doing so may have very little expertise, and the person who created the art only expected praise.
These rules can be edited or added to at any time by mods from Art Works, and remember that we're always watching to make sure that what you make is really yours.
