I just completed the first quest of zelda 1 for the nes, after the ending the game said something similar to "press start to start a new quest". As soon as I saw this, I hit the reset button b/c I was afraid the game was going to replace my first quest save file with a second quest savefile . Would this have happened? I want to save my first quest save file so I can roam around the overworld.

Thanks,

Yes, it would have done that, I'm pretty sure.

Since you've beaten that particular file (well technically, except for the reset thing), if you just want to unlock the second quest on another save file, you can just name a new blank save file 'ZELDA' and you'll get the second quest on that file.

if you beat the game why do you want to roam around the overworld? There isn't much to do in that game...I'd imagine that you did everything.

But as the poster above said, just type in ZELDA into a diff. slot and you can play the second quest.

Yes, your file would have been replaced with the second quest file. It's kind of funny going back to only 3 hearts and nothing right after having everything.
