Not many people believed Jesus, as he was killed. You know the whole Crusifiction thing. People only started to believe him after he was dead.

Actually, the reason why he was killed was because they felt his following was growing to large.

Well if we're going by what the Bible says, Jesus died because he intended for everything to happen exactly as it did. But yeah...

but what jesus says backs up the motives of the pharisees. He said it best himself, he taught and blaspemed every day at the temple but they did not care. It suggests that Jesus was growing in power and they wanted to stop that.
