Anybody know the names of the of all the Kokiri kids? Haven't been able to turn up the information yet.

I'm specifically interested in the names of one near the entrance/exit and the one doing backflips.

Well, you've got Mido, Saria, Fado (I guess), the Know-It-All brothers, and the Twins. Plus a bunch of random kids. No one but Mido, Fado, and Saria are given names.

Not all of them have names, just like in any other town or city in the game.
May I ask why you want to know this?

Sure, I was researching the infomation for a fic I'm working on. Since I hadn't run across it elsewhere, I thought I'd ask around to see if anyone else might know. I've already posted the chapter on Fanfiction dot net. The Story is called: Reunion

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2258956/1/

Is a round about way for me to do an adapt of the OoT storyline.

one of the kokiri was named fado in a beta version, and the tww kokiri sage known as fado was 'fodo' in the original japanese.

I know about fado, problem is - which one is fado? I'm always willing to revise things if I think it will make the chapter better

just dont know where he is during the OoT

now I'm curious and will have to go look - but fado's ghost - does it have a fairy???

probably not - can you kill a fairy?

tWW Fodo's ghost didn't have a fairy that i saw.
OoT-beta's Fado didn't appear in the final game, but she used to be sitting atop the store. she had more interesting clothing than any of the final version kokiri.. if i'm not mistaken.

oh yeah, i remember her. looking at stuff removed from the game is always fun.:) it is common belief that fado is a descendant of one of the kokiri in oot, but then comes up the issue of kokiri reproduction. >_<

I heard that (for the English translation at least) that most of the Kokiri are named after the notes of the musical scale, thus:

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do

Thus you have names like 'Mido' (Mi-Do) and 'Fado' (Fa-Do) and such. I could've sworn there was a Kokiri named 'Dore,' but that might just be my silly craziness talking.

forgot about mido.
also, i believe it wasn't for the english translation, it was for the beta version when they needed names to tell them apart.. or something.

Well, what about that one question, can you kill a fairy?

Like, in OoT, do they die when they use themselves? I like to think they do, only they get reborn in the fountain or something, they just keep coming back.

its annoying when the only hint they give you is something along the lines of "when you die, your little friend will come out and help you!"

I know in TWW, they don't look too happy about being in those bottles.

But about the do re mi thing - I remember reading something similar...somewhere.

Maybe those will work. Anyone know where that little bit of info may be hiding on the net?

I know! At first I thought they were crying, until I realized that it was the top of their wand under their eye, not a tear.

But the face still looks sad.

Using a picture might help... If we look at the Kokiri picture in the N64 OoT instruction booklet. We see:

Male, Male, Mido, The Female that people like to refer to as Fado, Female

Traditionally I think the musical notes go: Do re mi fa so la ti

So...

Male, Male, Mido, Fado, Female
Dodo, Redo, Mido, Fado, Sodo

Mido and Fado match up. That leaves Lado and Tido. How many Kokiri are left outside that picture (excluding Saria)?

That's my random ramblings for today.

EDIT: I called Link a Kokiri. Oops~

Of course, Mido (and Saria) was originally from AoL, so they didn't use the music notes thing to come up with his name. Maybe the other town from AoL without a Sage could be a Kokiri name? Kasuto.
Or you could give them the same name as the Koroks - they were originally Kokiri, right? They're named after trees - Aldo, Drona, Elma, Hollow, Irch, Linder, Makar, Oakin, Olivio, Rown.

so then logically they only adopted those names after returning to tree form ^_^ and we're left coming up with names for their human incarnations.. or giving up.

Yeah, 'Saria' and 'Mido' were originally towns from AoL. Also of interest is the 'Midoro' swamp. Does that have a translation, or is it just a funky name?

I remember reading somewhere that 'Kokiri' is Japanese for 'saw,' which is kind of amusing alongside their whole 'trees and forest' theme. If that's true, anyway.

Midoro would translate either to Midolo or Midol.

[QUOTE]Interesting...I think that could be true. But about Fado being a descendant of Saria, Don't the Kokori get created by the deku tree?

I remember reading that in the manga. I've tried looking it up in some online dictionaries, but I haven't found anything.

I think I've got it! Maybe Saria, Mido, and the other Kokiri in OoT were the first generation of Kokiri created by the Deku Tree, and then all the other generations are the descendants of those first Kokiri!

But they're children - how do they reproduce? And they never grow up. Which assumedly means they don't get old and die.

Well I never envisioned that to be any kind of carnal expierence - but, they are forest spirits...not even children really. They only take the form of 10yr old children. If you notice in the Game OoT if you walk any distance from any of them, they literally disappear and only their fairies are visible. It's very possible they can simply reinvent themselves to suit their environment.

It's the most reasonable explanation (for me anyway) of how they appeared as children in the OoT and Leaf peeps in TWW.
