I am pretty sure that some of you may of heard of this before. I think this is the most recent movie to be released from Miyazaki here in America. Which I believe I read in another thread that it would of came out yesterday, and I just found this today at blockbuster. I have yet to watch it since I just got home, but I was wondering who else has had the chance to see this, and what are your thoughts on this? Does it live up to his past work?

Well I cant say I am like Clayvman in the case of 'never hearing of it' buut you have rented one of the few Miyazaki movies Jaina hasnt seen! *waits for the gasp from the crowd* I can say that I have heard some good and bad news on it....some people say it is an excellent movie and one of his best..others say it is on the line of being 'too childish' for our age group.. ^^ soo I myself am going to watch it soon..since I do want to watch it before i add it to my Miyazaki DVD collection

Alright well I finally had the chance to sit down and watch this. I'm not going to ruin this for anyone so I won't say anything about the plot. I do have to say that even though I thought that this was a Miyazaki film, I was wrong. Miyazaki was the producer(I think) but he was not the director. It was a new person who has been a part of Studio Ghibli for awhile, but has never directed. Although this person was new, this was by far one of the best Ghibli films I have seen in awhile. I know I shoulden't say this, but I do believe that this movie was up there right next to Spirited Away. Being a new director this guy really put some serious work into this movie, I say that this will hold up even against Miyazaki himself. I highly suggest this to everyone, this is definetly something worth adding to your Ghibli collection.
Edit-
Something I forgot to mention. Apparently the cat who returns in "The Cat Returns" is actually from another earlier Ghibli film called "Whisper of the Heart". I didn't know about this because I have never seen that movie before. I am not even sure if it was ever released over here or not. I was wondering if Jaina or anyone else has seen this movie before? If so can you tell me a little bit about it, and if there is any tie in between the two stories, or if it is just a reacurring charcter? This was never really talked about on the dvd, it is only mentioned in the "making of" section. So I don't really know much about it. Thanks for your help.

I thought that movie was adorable!
after that movie I wanted a cat >.< lol. At first I thought it would be really childish too but My friend, sister, mommy and I sat down and watched it and we loved it. But it makes my mom want to watch "The Princess Bride" because the person who vioces the Barron also vioces in there...and "Robin Hood: Men in tights" >.

I haven't heard much about this movie yet, but if it's as good as Nausicaa and Spirited Away, I'll definitely be checking it out when I get the money for it.

I saw it at blockbuster the other day, but they didn't have any copies. T_T And the cat on the cover looked kind of freaky.

(I feel bad for bringing up an old thread buuut I knew it would be stupid to make a new thread for something that is still on the first page!)
omfg..this movie was AWESOME! ^^ I finally got to watch it today since my brother bought Cat Returns, Nausicaa (I own this one), and Porco Rosso..and well he *cough* brought Cat Returns and Porco Rosso with him when he came here for Spring Break. And well I finally got to sit down and watch Cat Returns since he told me it is really good.. and well it IS
I just loved the Dub job that Anne Hathaway did as Haru..I mean I dont usually like some of the Dub voicing like the voice of Nausicaa I dont think is as good as the Japanese job..but I thought Anne Hathaway really fit the part as Haru.
I also really loved the voice of The Baron and Prince Loom..the voices really fit the character
plus well..the movie altogether was really enjoyable for me as a 19 year old..and well I am sure young kids could really enjoy it too!
