A quiz about (obviously) the Super Mario Bros. series. All things Mario!

I guess I'll begin.

General Question- Technically speaking, you was the very first character to have been given the ground pound technique?

You're close. The character is a villain.

To my knowledge, Wario has done a similar move but there is someone before him. Think back a few more years.

Hmm... villain eh... Not Waluigi or Kamek... Bowser's too obvious... I guess it could be Tatanga or Wart....

I say Wart.

They're either called Whomps or Thwomps... Their the bluish blocks with spikes and evil-looking faces.

You're so close! Tatanga attacked Mario using a robot or spaceship and sending out rockets or whatever those things were.

YES! Before, Mario....and even before Yoshi! In Super Mario Bros. 3, Bowser does a ground pound technique. The style and name may differ from Yoshi to Mario and even to Wario but it seemed that Bowser just wanted to flatten Mario!

Yeah, he traded in his hammers for ground pounds!

You know it would. It fits the theme perfectly. It's like leaving a post about violets in the gardening forum when we have a perfectly good violet forum further down the page.

That's the wrong answer. Technically it was Sumo Bros. and Thwomps from the same game. They did the pound attack before Bowser.

In fact, even more technical if you want characters and not generic enemies, is that one of the Koopalings had a pound attack. It was either Roy, Morton Jr., or Ludwig von Koopa. So you all lose!

PWNed.

I don't know if Thwomps had a pound attack so much as they were just really heavy.

The Sledge Bros. just jumped and then landed on the ground and the same goes for Bowser's kids. Bowser jumped, turned and rammed the ground. I really don't count the Thwomps as the first users because they can do nothing else but strike downward.

Aren't the Sumo Bros. from Super Mario World? Yeah, those guys just stomped on the ground.

Sledge Brothers, my bad.

Well, barring the use of whistles, Thwomps appear first. Barring 'common' enemies like Sledge Bros. and Thwomps, then it's none other than Roy Koopa himself, followed by Ludwig von Koopa, and lastly Bowser Koopa.

(and because I'm a jerk, do you think DK's jumping on the construction in the original DK, making it rattle and break would count?)

The original DK? Well, all he does is jump and then land causing it to shake. So, I don't think so. Its the same as the Sledge Bros.

Also, in SMB 3 the Thwomps can move horizontally. I had forgotten about that.

The reason why Bowser is the answer would be because he jumps up, then turns into a sitting postion and pounds into the ground with his insane bulk!
