Hey guys, much like Link in Breath of the Wild, I've been revived from my long slumber. And also like Link, I've forgotten pretty much everything I used to know about Zelda.

I started looking into the story behind the latest Zelda games, and I have... questions. LOTS of questions. And I'm getting obsessed with the storyline all over again, just like the old days.

If anyone is still down for some storyline discussion, I'd love to do it here in this forum. As you probably all know, the original Legends Alliance community has moved to a new home. I'd like to keep the Zelda forums around and make them the main forums here.

As part of my re-education, I'm also going to bring the information on the site up to date. A large part of this will involve compiling a decade's worth of translation comparisons from here in the forum into organized, reference-able HTML files.

Once I'm fully re-educated, I'd love to start writing Zelda theories again. Theories have been spinning around in my head the last few days, and it's more fun than I've had in a long time. Despite Nintendo's obvious lack of planning the timeline and retroconning, I still see a lot of Zelda fans having fun speculating about various aspects of the story. I think it's fair to say that defining a timeline frees us up to speculate on other interesting aspects of the story.

Wow, it's pretty much unheard of for anyone these days to want to theorize  about Zelda post-Hyrule Historia, but I'm game.

I was never as categorically minded as some of the other guys, like MikePetersSucks, but I like discussion!

Zelda theorizing is all about making decisions about what is canon, especially when the creators say otherwise.

So I say Hyrule Warriors and the Tingle games are canon. I even have timeline placements for them.

Interesting... The nature of "canon" is something I never fully resolved for myself. I'd love to talk about the relative canonicity of various Zelda material, and what that means exactly for Zelda theorizing.

I'm also interested in talking about all the plot holes that Hyrule Historia didn't resolve (like how did the downfall timeline come about? How did Ganondorf get the ToP before Twilight Princess? etc.) It's possible everyone has already been over this over the past few years, so I'm reading back some of the old threads. I'll probably be starting some new threads or reviving some old ones to discuss the things I want to discuss.

So davo, how caught up are you in playing the games? Did you ever play A Link Between Worlds, and if so, what are your thoughts?

I'm very, very not caught up (yet). The last systems I owned were Game Cube and DS, so the last games I played were Twilight Princess and Spirit Tracks.

But I've been studying up, both the classics and the new games, so I think by now I know enough to at least come up with some coherent theories!

I've been meaning to reply to this for a little while now, but sign me up for some more theorizing. It's been awhile since I've been in any serious discussions, but I would really like to get back into it, especially for creating some more crackpot theories.

It's been a few months, are you overwhelmed? I'm happy to see you might be theorizing again. Yours was the first Zelda site I visited and I loved it so much way back when.

I started playing BotW a little late, but I'm already trying to figure out where it fits post-OoT. I'm even wondering if it's going to be the game that reunites all timelines into a single one again. There's so many little easter egg references on the map, you gotta wonder if they mean anything. Like names from Majora's Mask or Link's Awakening. If those are alternate dimensions or dreams how can they be in Hyrule?

I feel a little bad that I haven't played many of the new Zelda games like LBW, Hyrule Warriors, or Triforce Heroes. Hopefully LBW is the only one with pertinent timeline info.

Anyway, can't wait to hear any of your BotW theories! :)

Hi, thanks for dropping by. I didn't get any email notification - turns out our server has a spam problem and our mail queue got full. The joys of running a server.

Yes, I've gotten a bit overwhelmed by life! I really want to spend some time and attention here, but between full time job, 3 year old boy, and adulting, I can't seem to find the time.

I haven't even looked at BOTW yet because I didn't want to spoil anything for myself! Realistically, it looks like I'll never be able to find the time to buy the game and play through it, so I'll have to content myself with reading storyline summaries (same as with the last few Zelda games since 2011 or so).

I've been checking zeldalegends every so often, I sort of gave up hope after it looked like it was just straight up hacked and no longer functional (don't even think the forum link works)
I only just randomly found a 10 year old post of mine in some unrelated search and decided to check in. Glad to know you're back!
You know, I miss being involved in this stuff, but once that split timeline nonsense got "sure-why-not"-ed, I knew I had no place in discussion anymore... and there are actually people who accept the Historia as official, so that's only gotten worse. I can only assume it would be a bad idea to get involved again. On the other hand I'm itching to switch my console's language so I can get the real names of all the BotW enemies and characters.. would anyone even care? I would.

Hey Kairu,

Thanks for dropping by! I drop in every now and then to make sure everything is still running, and I cleaned up some of the hacks that have happened over the years. So everything mostly works.

It looks like I'm not going to have time to actually contribute to the site myself, like I was hoping. But if anyone wants to volunteer to contribute to the site, I'd love to have them.
