God I remember when timeline theorizing was such a big deal, hell, it's what drew me to LA in the first place. All of my earliest posts and threads were exclusively in this section. So many hours spent coming up with new crackpot theories and arguing them online, and man was it fun. While it was pretty cool for Nintendo to reveal an official, if flawed, timeline, it really seemed to drain the activity out of this place.

I wonder, are any of the rest of you guys lurking around here still? I feel that the instant someone posts in this section we see people like MPS and Average Gamer pop up out of nowhere just to respond after having not been seen for ages. If you guys still are, I really hope you see this and come to the new boards with us.

And just for one last go around, the NES games should be and always have been the earliest in Zelda canon. Come at me.

I'm the same way, Zelda was the reason I joined this forum in the first place. Oh god, I remember being so new to Zelda at the time! There was so much to absorb and take in, it wasn't even funny!

It's probably appropriate that the lion's share of content from Old LA that I've deemed necessary to save is from this section... and that what will more than likely be my final post on Old LA is in it. Indeed, the conversations were great fun back in the day, and could still be entertaining from time to time later on as well, though the prevailing attitudes had shifted fairly considerably from the simpler times. As much as part of me would love to lapse into dishing on the Hyrule Historia timeline, I don't know that I can truly claim to care anymore, and that saddens me somewhat, if I'm honest. As I stated at the time, to my mind, it just served as confirmation that there is indeed no real internally-consistent lore for the Zelda series in the sense that some other fictional universes seem more carefully planned out. And that's okay. It was just a matter of having the endlessly repeated questions of "What do/did the creators have in mind?" answered with, as had become my suspicion, "Not much". But since a good part of the discussion had come to revolve around what such behind-the-scenes intentions may have been, that discussion became something of a related casualty.

While it is somewhat sad to see this sort of thing go, I refer back to the statements I was making shortly after HH dropped: The people who put it together may not have even known as much about Zelda lore as the series' turbo nerds who talk about that sort of thing. Thus, you're really not required to think of it as 100% unassailable Word of God. If there's fun to be had talking about other possibilities, or even just discussing the lore, you're still free to do that. Perhaps enough of us will rediscover that stripe of fun at some point, and perhaps this section will see a revival of sorts on New LA as a result. Something resembling more of a merger of this section and Zelda General seems more likely to me, however. And even if that doesn't happen... well, that's okay, too.

The original Legends Alliance has moved to http://legendsalliance.boards.net/. For a time, we thought this forum might shut down as well, but I decided to keep it running.
