I have some bad news. As you know, the plan was to give it a month or so and then turn Old LA into an archive, where we would all still be able to log in and view everything. Unfortunately, however, we've found out that it's not feasible after all*. The current plan is still to keep the domain name and have it redirect to our new location, but we expect the old forum to be shutting down completely in about a month (no exact date yet, but we'll let everyone know when we find out). Please go ahead and save anything you wanted to save from the old board as soon as you can.
 
Eventually losing the archive was always a possibility, as we had discussed before, but we're sorry that it's going to be happening sooner rather than later. Again, please go ahead and save anything you want as soon as you can, since we aren't 100% sure about the shut-down date yet.
 
 
*Unfeasability of original plans may or may not be blamed on Jaina.

The admin staff got an unexpected email from davogones today. If you don't remember, davo was the guy who mostly ran Zelda Legends and part of the forums way back when.

He's willing to move LA onto his personal server.



We can:


1) Keep Old LA. It'll just have some extra ads to bring in server revenue. LA will get a new license key and receive regular updates. We stay on IPB and don't lose any old posts / etc. New LA (this forum) is deleted. Davogones foots the bill, possibly with us chipping in every now and again.

2) We Archive Old LA. It becomes a read-only archive that members can look at whenever. Old posts perserved. Davogones likely won't need to get a new license key or spend any extra time maintaining it. Minimal effort on his part.

3) Sayonara Sucker. Old LA is entirely deleted and we start over here from scratch; no history, but also no baggage or relics. Davo won't have to do anything. We use New LA exclusively.



What do you guys think? The admins are pretty torn. Some of us like the idea of starting with a blank slate, given the new direction we want to head in. I admittedly like the idea of a New LA. I never look through old threads as it is, so I don't mind losing all the old posts.

But staying with Old LA also means no learning curves, no changes, and a somewhat more robust admin control panel that gives us some more options. That is appealing
