So for the sake of starting up some new discussion, and out of genuine curiosity, what are you guys playing games on this generation and why? Anything you're looking into maybe getting, or perhaps one you are adamantly against buying. Why or why not?

So far for myself, I've been sticking to Wii U, 3DS, and PC this generation, no surprise there really. Though to be honest, I haven't been playing many new games lately, since I've really gotten into collecting for older systems, so I've mostly been playing their ever growing libraries. Not to say I haven't gotten my fair use out of them though, since I own most of the worthwhile Wii U games, save for some of the more recent releases, and have had a blast with all of them.

Honestly though, I'm not sure if I can even count PC at this point, since I'm still not sure how my 6.5 year old laptop is still alive at this point. All I really play on it at this point is old games or indie games, like Doom and Spelunky. I'm definitely overdue for an upgrade, so I might just finally bite the bullet and do it sometime soon.

As for the other systems, I've been keeping tabs on the PS4 and Xbox One, and I think I might go ahead and get one later this year or next year. I've been leaning towards Xbox for awhile now, since I think they have the better exclusives this time around, ironically enough. I know they're all going to PC now, but I've always had a preference for consoles, and I like to collect for games, so physical media has the edge for me. I'm going to wait and see how the Xbox One S does before I go for it though, since I like the smaller design and ability to stand upright. Plus, due to a rather unfortunate series of events regarding my PSN account, I'm more or less washing my hands of Sony, outside of collecting purposes much later on down the road.

I have my own ps4 and pc, my brother has a xbox 1 and there's a family wii u. Honestly all I have for the ps4 is Dark Souls 3, the new Doom (Which is absolutely fantastic), and Octodad. The majority of my current gen gaming is on my pc. Come to think of it, most of my games on pc are at least a couple years old at this point with the exception of Fallout 4, so take that as you will.

I only have 1.5 systems: Xbox One and a laptop for games that aren't overly demanding or brand new.

I like the One so far. I have quite a few games for it. Most of which have been purchased digitally, which is probably new for me, as far as console gaming is concerned. I'd like a PS4, too, but money's not good enough to warrant two major consoles right now. And frankly, I'd probably shell out money for a proper gaming PC before getting another console.

I haven't been interested in the Wii U, although the new Zelda looks fuckin' great.

I haven't had a console in ages because we have a tiny tv, so it's all PC gaming for me. Plus I have no time for games these days /sniff

I have a Wii U but pretty much nothing for it. I don't have enough money to keep up with new games at all, so really the only reason I wanted to get the Wii U when I did was to be ready for the new Zelda game. It had better be friggin' amazing because if you take Zelda out of the picture I would rather have an Xbone. I want Fallout 4 so goddamn bad. :deadlink:

3DS is the king of my gaming life.

PC gets a lot of play as well.  With indie games, it's always a toss-up between the 3DS and PC versions.  Usually PC wins based on price, but sometimes you just need to have access to a game wherever you go.

The Wii U has earned its keep with gems like Mario Maker, Hyrule Warriors, and Pikmin 3.

I defected from XBox to Playstation this gen when Bloodborne was announced as a PS4 exclusive.  That's become my system of choice for overblown AAA games.  The Sony exclusives ended up appealing to me more than the XBone ones.

I got the Wii U for Smash Bros and future Zelda. I got the PS4 for Overwatch, FFXV and Last Guardian. I've had a 3DS for years and honestly it's been my most reliable console to date. My Mac only plays so many games so I use it sparingly for Steam. My console selections are based solely from the games I want to play now or in the future, I consider them as an investment.

I have both the Wii U and PS4, which because I don't get games that frequently tend to get more or less the same amount of attention. I've picked up more Wii U games than PS4 games, though. I'm just that much of a Nintendo fanboy. I have a New 3DS, but it's been awhile since I've really played anything on it.

But I've joined the PC Master Race after investing a lot of money into a custom build, so I'm looking towards playing some of the big monster games on it if I can ever tear myself away from Crusader Kings II.

PS4 and 3DX XL. I forgot to add the 3DS to the poll because I haven't bought a game for it in almost a year, and I don't really play it that much, anymore.

Like Steve, I jumped from XBox to Playstation this gen. Microsoft turned out to be less than ideal at feeding my JRPG habit.

I'm playing mostly PC. I wanted a Wii U and 3DS but money's too tight in the family.

Over 20 years, and I have never, ever, touched a single PlayStation or X-Box console, save for the PSP. Never got the opportunity to. Only Nintendo and SEGA consoles have been with me throughout my life.

3DS is pretty much the greatest thing right now for me, which makes sense since last time the DS was my go to. Which is weird since I tend to play a lot more console games, but quality wise my handhelds have been my go to's.

WiiU is what it is, but it's been worth it to me despite its flaws. Honestly, every game I own on the thing is an exclusive and I love almost all of the, to death, and other then Star Fox even the disappointing ones are still okay, so it's not been a waste at all to me personally.

On the flip side, all but one game on my PS4 is multiplatform, and that one game is Tales of Zesteria. I still enjoy it, though unlike last time I just don't find any pull from any of the exclusives - I went this way because I was already in the ecosystem from last gen so, sure, why not?

I don't own a Vita, but I do have a PSTV? It was marked down to like 20 bucks last year and it seemed worth it just to finally play Persona 4 Golden....and it totally was. Also played the heck out of Dancin' All Night, and that might be it. I've bought Tales of Hearts R and Valkyria Chronicles 2, and I'm curious about some of the wacky Japanese games like Danganronpa, but I think even if I never play anything on it again I'm good.

I need a new PC, but honestly, I don't know if I really want to invest in a Gaming PC because I don't think I'll use it enough to make it worth it, and other then stuff like Crusader Kings and Civ and whatever Total War comes out with, I just don't find any interest in any PC games beyond Indies, and those are either not graphics intensive or I can play on any of the above consoles/handhelds, so I can live without it. Still, if I need to upgrade anyway and I can do something affordable I might do it? Maybe?

My wife and I tend to run Sony consoles.  I also have a PC.
