The newest Zelda game is announced, and there are some fun things to speculate regarding its storyline (ranging from the Bridge of Eldin to where the Master Sword is and stuff about resurrection)

You can see the trailer here

So...where do you think this falls into the storyline? I assume after Twilight Princess (which is after MM...and they are the two recent HD/3D remakes that were made previous to this game?)

But I'm curious to hear what others think!

I was leaning towards post-TP, but apparently there are Koroks in the game. But at the same time, you can get Wolf Link as a companion as well. I remember seeing someone speculate that the Master Sword is rusted from being under the sea for so long, but I'm not sure I really buy that since I can't really imagine 'New Hyrule' in an ancient and decayed state like this. It would fit better in the Child or Decline timelines.

The Koroks do suggest Adult Timeline, but who's to say the Kokiri don't become them in other timelines anyway? They totally drop off the radar after OoT.  My very tentative, probably gonna be wrong in hindsight guess is that this game takes place after the NES games at the tail end of the Downfall Timeline. The general sense of ruin and wildness in the environment is very reminiscent of that era, where Hyrule was nearly deserted, not to mention the condition of the Master Sword suggesting it hasn't been used in a looong time. Post TP could also work, the landmarks look kinda similar and Wolf Link is around, though that could be a non-story easter egg for all I know (like those books in The Minish Cap or the ability to turn into the original Link sprite in the Oracle games).

The Koroks mess with the possibility of this taking place outside the adult timeline. There has been some speculation that this game will act outside the timelines, as they have given restrictions to the developers and would love to not have to worry about making each game fit neatly somewhere. I'm pretty sure the amiibo stuff will just be extra stuff/easter eggs in gameplay.

This whole presentation for this game though has me all sorts of excited! There are so many mysteries I want to unravel about what happened that it'll make the wait all the more taxing.

I get a post-WW vibe, but it's too early to tell.

I was thinking post-Great Sea.  Of course that would complicate things as technically there would be TWO Hyrules, the 'Old' Hyrule, and the 'New' one from ST that Tetra and WW Link founded post WW/PH.  Unless BotW takes place AFTER ST...maybe millennia later, when the Deku Tree's plan of joining the islands with trees is completed.  I feel like that particular detail may have been put into Wind Waker to be explored in a future game.

I like the idea of this theory and it makes some good points about the Decline Timeline.

I like it also.  I was always a little unjust that the first three games ended up in what essentially amounts to the Leftovers Timeline.

I'm also open to the possibility that this is a re-imagining of the first game.  I don't have much to base that on, except the story beats of Link being a stranger exploring a ruined Hyrule and hanging out with an old man.

Well given the state of decay of the world, it obviously falls under the 'Good Things Fail To Happen' sector. I can't believe you even need to ask.

I'm hesitant to assign it a place on the timetrangle based on the limited knowledge with have...especially since the TToTT is about 10 years behind.
