In AoL, how do I kill Horsehead? None of my attacks are connecting, apparently, and I just end up landing on his weapon. I can't do anything really, against him, I always die, I have lvl 3 life, level 4 attack, level 2 magic, and I had to use Jump to get over the IK's on the way, I hate those guys. I end up in the boss chamber with a life if I'm lucky, and I'm dead before I begin.

Any suggestions?

If I recall correctly, you just have to hit the head. It's all in the timing.

Davo is correct. My advice: Don't use the Jump Spell. Jump at Horsehead, and SWING right before you are going to physically run into him. You will "bounce back". When you SWING, hold BACK so when you bounce away, you will move clear of the stupid thing's club.

If you learn the crouch stab (jumping, holding down, and hitting the swing button), you can use that against him to pwn him quickly.

Have Level 4 Attack, Level 1 Magic and Life. You'll kill him quickly.

I tend to hang around the left-hand side of the screen and wait for him to come at me. Then I jump up to avoid the club and stab his head.

Also, Reflectionist, you really should learn to fight the Iron Knuckles properly if you want to get anywhere in this game. You can't afford to keep wasting magic on the jump spell, especially because you still usually end up jumping into enemies at least once. If you really are struggling with an enemy, try the shield spell first. Also spend time building up your levels.

Thanks! I'll try them sometime today.

I have more than that and I still suck! lol

And, now, how do I swiftly kill Iron Knuckles? I'm so used to the OoT thing, I try to backflip and jump at him, lol!! And Stalfos used to be a problem, but I have them down.

EDIT - went back, played it, had full health into the bottom part of the temple, and died.... three times... before reaching the stalfos. Yeah. I suck.

You should go download the speed run of Zelda II from http://planetquake.c...her/zelda2.html

Watch how the enemies are fought in that...it will help.

Attack the Stalfos' legs. They aren't so good at defending. As for the iron knuckle, what works best for me is just to go psycho and keep jumping up and stabbing their heads. I try not to give them much time to attack me.

It's definately one of the hardest games I've ever played. I'm having a hard time thinking of another game that frustrated me as much as AoL did.

Yea and if you pick up more than one of those extra Link dolls before your trip to the Great Palace you can basiclly forget about beating the game, because you'll never get there..ugh it's way too frustrating.

Here's the easy way...

Don't beat any of the temples until you have leveled up all the way.
If you have to, get the item and leave (candle, gloves, raft, and whistle are the only real important temple items at this point) Get the hammer too.

Keep progressing (don't pick up any of the dolls. Save them for later) all the way until you reach New Kasuto Town (the hidden one). Use the weak enemies there to level up (to fight the lizards, just jump and stab when you're right at it's head. It takes practice.) There are two per section and they give 150 pts. each. You're right next to a town if you're life gets low.

Now, go beat all the palaces (each one nets you one extra life) and collect all the extra life dolls. You should have about 12 or 13 lives. And if you take the express way through the Great Palace (unfortunately I don't have my book handy) you should have three or four lives left at the end (at least I did). Use the jump and slash technique on Dark Link. It takes some practice, but it works. Once I figured out that strategy, I haven't had any problems beating this game.
