So, I've been listening to Radio Hyrule a lot. Bought the app so I could listen to it without switching on a PC. Now, I've got to thinking... which game would you say has the most memorable music in it?

I'd plump for A Link to the Past because is is the game with the most music that I can remember. Sure, I can nearly remember all of the music from the first game, but all of the A Link to the Past's music is stuck in my mind. All of it.

My first instinct was to vote Link to the Past because it introduced so many of the staple songs of the series.  However, I think Link Between Worlds took those songs and made them even more memorable.  The folksy instrumentation, the way some songs change as you progress through the game...it was all such a beautiful rendition of those classic tunes that the LBW versions replaced earlier versions in my mind.

I like how you didn't even dignify Phantom Hourglass with a poll option.

Oh, this is hard. I'm tempted to vote OoT just for Gerudo Valley alone. And the music from TP is probably my favorite to listen to outside of playing games. I think I have to vote ALttP though, because when I think of Zelda music I immediately think of that game.

Majora, but WW and ALTTP actually come really close. I just can't bring myself to vote for a catchy theme against the beautifully dissonant Last End and Majora theme. I mean, seriously. You could start a musical movement with those pieces.

I voted for 5. I'm so sorry.

The Oracle games actually had some pretty rad music. Link's Awakening had my favorite rendition of the Hyrule overworld theme, but my all time favorite soundtrack is Majora's Mask. It's so elegant and beautiful, it beats Ocarina of Time's soundtrack by a long shot (but I will say, the original Fire Temple theme with the chant is pretty awesome).

For me it's definitely Ocarina of Time. Hyrule Field, Saria's Song, Epona's Song, Goron City, Zora's Domain, Gerudo Valley, the inside a house theme, shop theme, the title theme, and the enemy music... So many iconic songs that played a big part in defining the feeling of the Zelda series in my mind. And it's not just background music, it's also incorporated into the plot and gameplay so closely through the ocarina itself. Those songs will be with me forever.

What do you mean I didn't...? *looks at poll* Damn it! I missed out a game, so I had to shift everything down... It was in there before. Let me put it back in.

One other question though, why didn't you choose "Other" then?

Yeah... OoT would have to be my other choice, followed shortly by MM/LA in joint third. Sure these other games have nice music, but I can't remember a single song from TP and no others have as much memorable music.

Oh, I wasn't actually going to vote for it. I mean aside from Linebeck's Theme it's one of, if not the LEAST memorable.

But really, memorable is very subjective, that's probably going to be the Zelda you played first, or most. So for me that's basically OoT.

A different question would be, which has the "best" soundtrack. That could go many different ways, like quality of individual tracks versus as an ensemble OST, how many tracks became staples of the series, recording quality etc.

Best is also subjective. It's only not subjective in your post, because you've defined what best should mean.
