It seems so basic but I cannot figure it out.

Uhhh.... Are you using quick reply or full reply? Because uploading images is only available in full reply (see: "More Reply Options"). An option to attach files should be right beneath the edit box on that screen.

 

If you already have files attached, then you can use "My Media" on fast and full reply to throw existing files into your post.

My personal preference is to upload to a Photobucket, you can click the link and it will copy the [img] code for you for easy pasting into the LA editor. Plus that way you don't make Toan sad by using board resources.

It's easier but it's also not private at all. If I'm using a reaction gif or something I use imgur, but if I'm uploading personal photos, I'd rather have restricted viewing options.

The only thing I don't like about Imgur is I read somewhere that if your picture goes like 6 months or something without any views then it gets deleted.

I think that particular issue is alleviated if you have an account, but yeah, imgur is not the place to go with personal pics.
