So, the age-old science fiction trope of being able to reconstruct and record dreams and human memory is apparently a thing now. Well, okay, not exactly, but we're taking the first steps toward being able to "decode" how the brain stores images.

Obviously not film-quality accurate, but the simple fact that it can be done is.... well, both neat and scary. Imagine what you can do with it in 50 years.

Kisseena, for some reason I get a very uneasy feeling when I think about watching your recorded dreams.

 

 

From what I learned on Vsauce, it would be hard to either completely reconstruct and destroy memories in this way because of how the brain stores them. A basic analogy would be like keeping pieces of a puzzle in various places around your house, each piece separated from the others, with no identifiable system for their arrangement. I suppose what they're working on is figuring out that system and how the brain accesses each part of the memory or why it accesses specific parts of a memory.
