I looked at the taxonomy of this. It's a tunicate (a subphylum of chordata), and from the wiki page they're all weird undersea-things that don't look very animal-like at all. The ocean is a weird place.

In The Blue Planet documentary series the one about the ocean is seriously insane. If you haven't watched it, you probably should.
