There are two things I get from this. One, why did it take the parent 7 months to find this note and two, why on earth is this even going on in Grade Schools. Most indoctrination is reserved for college level education after all.
But I digress, the idea that a forth grader would be told to write anything like this in a classroom is kinda daunting. Political opinions have no place in the classroom, no matter what age the student.

WaitWhat? The teacher dictated it and had students write it down?! And am I the only person bothered by a fourth grader still using crayons to take notes?
Oh. It's Florida. That explains everything.

Top comment said exactly what I came in here to write:
"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." - A dozen different ways this has been said, credited toward Ben Franklin.
No comment on the Florida education system in general, because I wasn't raised in it. But what I've heard, both politically and from friends who were raised in Florida schools, hasn't been optimistic in the least.
As for how long it took the parent to find this note? Please, I'm pretty sure that at the bottom of my desk at home there are still crumpled up pieces of paper that lay forgotten from the bottom of my elementary school backpack.

In three colors, even! I confess, this part alarmed me immensely. And then I looked up where this came from. To quote Wikipedia: "TheBlaze is a conservative news and opinion website owned by American media personality and former CNN Headline News and Fox News host Glenn Beck's Mercury Radio Arts." While that doesn't discredit the article offhand...well, let's just say I'd like some verification. I can't put my finger on it, but even before I found out where the article came from I had that spidey-sense that tells me "something's fishy here."WaitWhat? The teacher dictated it and had students write it down?! And am I the only person bothered by a fourth grader still using crayons to take notes?
Needless to say, I don't think teachers have any right to politically indoctrinate kids. Of course, I don't think parents ought to either, but I don't suppose that can entirely be helped.

Woah, I didn't realize the Red Scare was still going on!
There are a million reason the kid might have that paper in his backpack. And look at this... "Harvey said he asked some of his son's classmates and got a similar answer."??? I have doubts that the teacher told the students to write down those exact words (you can see that the child even crossed a word out and wrote a different word) and even if she did, who KNOWS why? Calling it "indoctrination" is SERIOUSLY jumping the gun.
