I don't see why not, but it would definitely be more of a friendship (if anything at all) than a parent/child relationship.
I don't think its outside of the realm of possibility that it could develop into one, though. Anything's possible, especially with the whole money thing. The alternative to that is possible death, sometimes people bite the bullet.
