[Chukchi Husky]

This is a drawing I started back in early December, but I only managed to finish in just a couple of days ago. I did it mostly to practice techniques I learnt from a book by John Howe before I go onto the other drawing books I bought. The more I look at the drawing, the more I see that I did wrong. The one thing I got wrong was the eyes, which are far too big. I tried to draw them about five times, but they still are too big. After I scanned the drawing I could see I did more wrong, as I can see that the head, ears and hair are too big, and the proportions of the body are wrong. I guess some of it is to do with my worsening eye sight and that I lack any kind of proper space for drawing. I'm not sure if I'll be able to draw any more unless something changes in the future.

The eyes might be bigger than you intended, but I have to say that they are very piercing! I think the thick lining might have to do with it, but since I don't speak art I could be 100% off.

I was trying to draw husky eyes, which often have a thick black outline. If you look at photos of huskies you can see that the eyes are far to big. I would try to use more pictures as a reference, but I can't print any out, and the only portable screen I own is on a small mp3 player. I do own a couple of books, but the pictures in them have the problem of being too small.

I'm not sure when I'll be able to draw again. Outside of holidays, it depends entirely on what my younger brother does. The only way I'll ever be able to draw more frequently is if he moves out, which he won't do because he can't be bothered.
