Damn...I knew Nixon was a horrible President (aside from creating the EPA and enacting the majority of environmental regulations) but this really takes the cake. He committed treason by conspiring with the South Vietnam government to pull out of the Vietnam war peace talks!

However, LBJ and Hubert Humphrey do share some blame by not exposing this treason.

I felt this belonged in controversial than other forums.

Nixon wasn't the only President to delay or even ignore peace talks. Abraham Lincoln deliberately made sure to delay any peace talks with the South during the Civil War until he could pass the 13th Amendment because he knew that if the southern states returned to the Union, their representatives would thwart any plan to ban slavery. Nixon's case to pull out of talks was to save his own skin in some way since he couldn't very well have his reputation tarnished with a war he didn't win. It only takes one big mistake for most Presidents to lose their next shot during Election season.

But to be honest, Nixon is remembered for his crooked politics, nothing more can be revealed about him that would be at all surprising or unexpected.
