Unrelated to the asteroid that hit Russia, check this out:

This asteroid passed closer to earth than geosynchronous satellites. I love how when I walked into my group meeting today, my advisor had his laptop hooked up to the projector watching the asteroid flyby. Which is funny because we're an astrophysics group that has nothing to do with asteroids.

At least this asteroid didn't hit Russia
