....
I SAID, WHO WANTS TO FUCKING TOUCH ME!?
Seriously. This game was fucking awesome. It was hard, yes, but awesome. And surprisingly, it wasn't as hard as people say it is. It's just regular old Nintendo hard, but that's not unforgiving. It may be one of my favorite Zelda games, and I had a blast running through it.
I've tried several times to start this game, but each time I got really stressed trying to level up to the highest I could go so that I could go through the rest of the game with ease. Finally got maxed at around Palace 4, which all Magic and Heart Containers at Palace 5. Valley of Death was actually more of a bitch than the Great Palace for me. It was the fucking Moas. God forbid Ganon throw Moas at Link in the next Zelda game. He would be dead in five seconds! Seriously, that's all he would need to do. Go to Kokiri Forest while Link is sleeping and throw some Moas in there. Problem solved: go claim the Triforce.
I really do hope that in the future, we'll revisit "Northern and Eastern Hyrule" again. It would definitely break the mold for Nintendo to throw us into a land that was alternatively strange and familiar to us and not have the whole, "Forest, Fire, Water quest item" thing that the games have been doing lately, revisiting the same old landscape. (sans SS, kinda.)
Well, time to frag people on Goldeneye Wii.

AGREED. (But Nintendo would probably mess it up....)

It took me over 12 years to finally beat it. I played it as a kid and it kicked my ass. But I finally managed to do it in college. Best game high ever.

Until a monster pushes you down the chasm of instant death. The Valley of Death. Man. Basically you just gotta have a lot of patience and ideally use the Jump spell a lot.

Once you know how the Moa operate, it's not that hard. You just have to be willing to sit their and kill them one by one.
I always stocked up on lives and abused the fairy spell.
Quite. In fact, I actually go through the entire game without finishing the palaces until I'm ready for my final playthrough. I like to leave at least the first five palaces unfinished, so I can quickly marathon through them without losing lives and using the automatic 'level up' to earn extra lives. That way by the time I get to the Great Palace, I have 10+ lives to burn through. Sure, I usually don't need them all, but it doesn't hurt to have them!

I beat the game a few years ago, so truthfully I don't remember that much about it, but I do know that it was quite difficult. I recall the Wizzrobe boss in the fourth temple being a right bastard until I figured out how to actually hurt it...

Yea, though I walk to my shadow through the Valley of Death, I will fear no Moa, for I have like ten lives with me.

Zelda 2 on the other hand, I believe the difficulty mostly comes from the facts there is a life system in it. which is not to say it is is ant easier if it were to have infinite lifes....

Thunderbird: Use Jump and Shield if you can spare the MP, and you should be able to if you're using all the red jars. I think it's possible without Jump, but way harder than it's worth.
Link's Shadow: The cheap duck-in-the-corner-and-attack method does work if you want to go that way.
Also, have Life highlighted during the last two fights so you can cast it easily if you need to. Really, the Great Palace is more about using the hidden red jars to keep your HP and MP up than anything else.

Funny thing is, those Bird Knights are known as フォッカー/Fokkaa/Fawkers. It suits they're names since they're all a bunch of dangerously hard Monsters. So I'm at the Great Palace now. I made it to the Thunder Bird earlier today, but ended up losing. Any advice for taking on the Thunderbird, Link's Shadow, and those goddamn Bird Knights?
