It made me start thinking, especially the part that says "...I suppose there's no escaping destiny..." and "Our people are fated to do so." While I'm not exactly sure of what he means by that, I do know one thing that it at least implies. That there is at least one person who knows of the old legends. One possibility is that Link's uncle knows that a hero rises every time evil does (and somehow that Princess Zelda always gets into trouble) and that the hero rises out of their lineage. Another is that Link's uncle is the last of the true Knights of Hyrule, passing on his duty to Link. In that case, fate simply means that as the last Knight of Hyrule Link is fated by his duty to protect the Royal House. Any other thoughts on this? Anything I'm missing out on or other ways of looking at the text?Unnh... That voice... Link? Is it you? I thought I told you to wait at home... I suppose there's no escaping destiny... Here, take this sword and shield from me. I shall teach you one of the
secret sword techniques used by the Knights of Hyrule... Hold the B Button to focus power in your blade. Release it to unleash the power. Link...you must rescue Princess Zelda. Our people are fated to do so. But do not fall victim... to fate... Link... I shall always remember...
our time... together...

I was just reading through the ALTTP (GBA) text dump on Zelda Legends (no reason in particular, just bored) when I came across this quote:

You're right. The text pretty much speaks for itself. This Link is of a lineage Knights who serve the Kingdom. There's no exact telling, though, which Links are of this lineage, but we know this Link is one for sure.
