My Fiance and I were talking yesterday about what we would do if we won the lottery... And I found we couldn't really think about what we would do with that much money, given we have been living off of a very limited income for quite some time now... What are some of the things you would do?

Pay off college and buy a car.
Help my family pay off the mortgage. Help the rest of my family get a house.
BUY KITTIES!
Save some, and then give the rest to charity.

Oh, and a ball pit. I could get a ball pit.
And travel the world.

Boring answer: put it in the bank and live off of the interest. Finish going to school without having to work on top of it, and try to become a whale biologist.

I would like to think I would buy a nice little home, furnish it, buy a new 4x4 vehicle, put a significant chunk away (By the by the lotto here in Canada is 50 million... or 8 milltion depending on which you play) and go and finish my nursing degree, and then most likely get another degree.

I would also pay off my parents, my fiance's parents and my Brother's houses and vehicles for all the help they have given us. And take everyone on a vacation, where I would also reimburse them for any missed work (even if they have vacation days left).

I wouldn't want to travel extensively until Rheya was older... Just so she could remember it, and we all could enjoy it.

That would be what I would do... I think :S

-Pay off any debts (collections, student loans, etc...)
-Buy another car with decent gas mileage, since B's truck is horrible on gas mileage (love the thing though)
-Buy a house
-Put away a decent amount
-Travel
-Give my cousin the $2000 he needs to get his son to Ohio for cancer treatment.

I'd buy a moderate car. Something nice, but not like ridiculous super car or anything. Then, a sword. Antique Japanese from a prominent smith. Mmmmm. Yeah. Then maybe disappear for a couple months and travel through Europe and Asia. Maybe Australia.

Then I would buy a home in the Northern US or Canada. Not anything fancy, just a decent sized suburban home with a yard.

What I would do with a million is completely different to what I would do with 50 million. Let's assume 1 Million dollars.

Step 1: Pay off student loans and put enough aside to cover the rest of my education through a master's degree. Let's say 100G for that. 900k left.
Step 2: Pay off my parents' mortgage. Send them on a fancy cruise. 250G. 650k left.
Step 3: Buy an apartment in Glendale. Rent it out till I'm ready to live in it.. 400G. 250k left.
Step 4: Buy a new car. 25G. 225k left.
Step 5: Fund my capstone film as it should be funded. 25G. 200k left.
Step 6: Buy film equipment. Lots of it. 50G. 150k left.
Step 7: 50G in gold, 75G in investments. 25k left.
Step 8: 25G in a bank account for spending. I just won the lottery, after all. I have to go on something of a spending spree.

I'd buy myself a house and then give away the rest to all of the people who've been good to me over the years. Especially my uncle, I'd make sure his ass was retired.

I really have no idea. A suburban home with room for all my family on a good chunk of property, near a frequantly running bus line would be a good start. Pay for grandma to live at a good neaby assisted living facility, and live off the rest, supplimented by selling at Artists Alleys at conventions. XD

If it were an obscene amount, move into an actual place, get a better car, and work because I want to work and not because I don't want to starve to death. Would probably still be really boring and live modestly though.
