Not sure if this has been done before, chances are if it has the thread has probably been dead for quite awhile. ;d

Anyways, title is self explanatory. I'm breaking mine into different categories but you don't have to.

2D games:
ALttP
LoZ
LA
OS

3D games:
SS
TP
OoT
MM
WW

AoL goes unlisted since it is an utterly evil game isn't really like the other 2D games. The others go unlisted since I have not played them.

I don't feel a lot of explanation coming on. Take it as it is. :P

3D games:
Wind Waker
Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask (I honestly can't decide...OoT wins for nostalgia's sake, but MM for story/characters)
Skyward Sword
Twilight Princess
Phantom Hourglass
Spirit Tracks (tbh, I didn't really like this one. It was fun enough for me to play it, but not enough for me to be bothered to finish it. I think it's the only Zelda game I've never finished, if you don't count LoZ and AoL)

As for the 2D games, I'll only say that ALttP is definitely my favorite. The others don't really go in any particular order....well, I'll say that AoL would definitely be my least favorite. I can't even play that game for longer than five minutes without wanting to chuck it out the window.

Sadly, there's a number of Zelda games I have yet to finish. AoL is one that I probably never will, I couldn't even beat that damn game using a gameshark. MM is one that I really want to finish. It was a bit difficult, but I mainly never finished it because something else would always come up and take my attention away from it before I could finish the game. I lost interest in the OS, they weren't bad, they just never really caught my interest. WW was put off to the side as soon as I picked up SS, but now that I finished that I can get back to WW. I plan to eventually get around to finishing all of them.

Also, most of my choices were very close, since I really enjoyed nearly every Zelda game I've played.

Yeah, I kind of felt bad putting TP and PH so far down on the list, since I did really enjoy those games. I just can't put them any higher because of how much I loved the first four.

And actually, now that I think on it, I'm not sure I ever finished Link's Awakening either. I could have sworn I did, but either I've completely misplaced any memories I had of the ending or I just never had them in the first place. :s Ah well. Honestly none of the handheld games stick out particularly well in my mind other than PH and ST.

This is just my personal opinion, but:

Highest tier

MM

High

LA
OoT/WW (pretty much level)

Good, but never got into for various reasons

LttP (completed but it wasn't my generation so I don't have that much nostalgia for it)
AoL (too hard, death mountain ugh)
LoZ (I actually find it harder than AoL and I hate that those two games have kill counters)

Average

TMC
TP (I need to replay it maybe I'll change my mind)
OoX
PH

The rest I never played.

edit: oops, forgot Minish Cap

Because I'm a noob and have never played the 2D games:

TP
OoT
MM
WW

If I ever get to play Skyward Sword, it'd probably be no. 1 or 2 based on what I've heard about it.

Let's see. I can't rank all of them under the same listing, but I think I can divide them between the console and handheld games.

console:

SS
TWW(still competing with SS for being my all time favorite)
ALTTP
OOT
TP
LOZ
AOL
MM
FSA

Handheld:

LA
ST
TMC
FS
OOS
OOA
PH

I'm pretty certain that the kill counters made it to at least MM. Just saying. :P

Why that would have to be...

MM
ALttP
LA
OoT
MC
OoS/OoA
WW
TP
LoZ
PH
ST
FSA
AoL

If it's not on the list, I haven't played it.

Well, what I mean is its the first two Zeldas are the only ones I find it unavoidable to die in, and the fact that every death gets recorded irks me. Because I tend to die a lot. I want a perfect file dammit.

this is difficult for me because i like most of the games for very different reasons. briefly, legend of zelda had kickass gameplay, link to the past had kickass mythology, ocarina of time had a kickass story, majora's mask had a kickass world, wind waker had kickass aesthetics, and twilight princess had two kickass characters. i could arrange those into a vague hierarchy, with the first two competing with majora's for first place and princess way, way at the bottom, but depending on my mood the list could go in pretty much any order.

From favourite to least favourite:

MM,
WW,
OoT,
LA,
MC,
OoX,
LoZ,
AoL,
TP,
aLttP,
ST,

I'm still playing through Skyward Sword, and have the same problem that I did with Phantom Hourglass (also not placed in my list). I think that both games are generally excellent, but are undermined by fundamentally terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible controls.

OoT is probably my favorite, with MM just behind it. great story, liked the controls, Oot had some of my favorite dungeons.
I liked skyward sword (just beat it yesterday) I liked it for the most part, but the controls sucked, to put it briefly.
Alttp was a good game, I am just not all that great at the 2d games
TP has my favorite dungeon design (it's decently important to me) and I liked the combat better than most of the others. lame story.
to me WW ties with TP, the story was better, the controls were decent, but I don;t like the art style, it's not bad, it's just not my thing. I also wish they had put more rock into the game(not music but masses of land) TMC fits somewhere around here as well, it was a good game, but nothing really stood out to me.
Loz oracles and well most of the rest go here. I like the series and I haven't geninuenly hated really any game (see below for exceptions) they either just don't appeal to me or were something I got too frustrated with. I think if they made a remake (not a re release) of loz and aol that I might be able to enjoy them more.

and last and certianly least. CD-i games (I haven't played them, I don't need to. Their very existance is enough to make me hate them)

My all time favorite is OOT (even the master quest) and my least fav (since I can never seem to get through it) is AoL - I really don't like the side scrolling (never did). Got far in TP, but lost the memory card and had to start over >.<. MM never beat ... just got really stuck.

I'm starting to reply TP and trying to finish it ... but stuff like work and other things seem to get in the way >.<. Oh well, I'll get there eventually.

Most favorite is The Adventure of Link.

The rest of the games are not The Adventure of Link, so they are my least favorite.

I'll list mine by system.

Favourite NES Zelda:
AoL. Tough, but fun. A good sized overworld, too. I liked the magic system, and you have to actually be good at the swordplay. A more expansive story than LoZ, too.

Favourite SNES Zelda:
ALttP. This was a tough choice.

Favourite GB Zelda:
LA. Definitely my favourite Zelda game on the GB.

Favourite N64 Zelda:
MM. Edges out OoT. I really like the world and side stories. The three day system was pretty ingenious.

Favourite GBC Zelda (not counting LA DX):
Oracles linked game. I should replay them sometime.

Favourite GC Zelda:
TWW. I have to give TWW the nod over TP. Sailing is fun. I didn't really consider FSA seriously...

Favourite GBA Zelda:
TMC. Remakes of ALttP don't count.

Favourite DS Zelda:
ST. I just like the theme tune. Probably not all that much to choose between PH and ST...

Favourite Wii Zelda:
SS.

Favourite CDi Zelda:
WoG. I prefer it to FoE; playing as Zelda for a change is interesting, but not having to go back and forth collecting different coloured snowballs helps. ZA is pretty good too, but the long load times hold it back a bit.

The only Zelda game I ever managed to finish was A Link to the Past. Of the 3D ones I one I like the most so far is The Wind Waker, which I haven't given up on yet. I found Ocarina of Time too hard, Twilight Princess (which someone said would be my perfect game) I gave up when I got stuck on a dungeon I found boring, Phantom Hourglass I gave up when I found out the main dungeon has a time limit, and I never started Spirit Tracks. The other Zelda games I haven't played.
