this is a bit of a long shot, but long shots do pay off. Can't we just post all the information that everyone seems to agree on right here, in one place? It would help because people wouldn't have to scurry around to try and find what they were looking for in here (Zelda Storyline). Does it make any sense to all of you?

Information that everyone agrees on? What a bizarre concept.

The common concensus is that OoT was the first Zelda game ever released, and as such the realistic graphics of the upcoming one is a return to the series roots.

Yes, just like that tidbit Steve added in. If we post all commonly known iformation in on spot, then it can help new comers and people oblivious to everything understand whats going on.

Yes, but I do believe Steve was being sarcastic. But what he said is sadly true, even if it is wrong.

EDIT: And Malons and Talons.

As far as the storyline goes, it is ambiguous. So all we can really agree on is that certain interpretations exist, given the evidence (or lack of evidence). That is, we can judge that some theories are good and some are bad, based on their conformance with the known evidence.
On another level, fans don't always agree about what constitutes evidence. Obviously we should count the games, but maybe some things are easter eggs and shouldn't be taken seriously. Even some games, like the CD-i games and Smash Bros and Soul Caliber II, don't seem to count. We also have to think about whether information from guides and interviews counts.
So, it's not a simple matter to simply list what it is that everyone agrees on. We've been trying to do that since the beginning, and so far there has been no unanimous concensus on anything, not even on the principles by which we judge theories to be good or bad.
I think we've come a long way though. Gone are the days of "I think the game said this." Now we can come up with exact quotes almost immediately thanks to my text dumps and quote faqs. And guides and interviews are freely available, for the most part. So at least we're not blindly stumbling around in the dark like we were when I first got into Zelda.
