I never had crunchy peanut butter until a few weeks ago, and it is decidedly superior to creamy in every way.

You know whats really different..
adding cheesey poofs to the peanutbutter....or even peanut butter and mustard. O=
Don't knock it until you try it.

Yeah, surprised at the number of people picking smooth over crunchy. I'd generally use crunchy given the option; makes a nice contrast to the smoother jam.
Generally, though, a plain sandwich of either peanut butter or strawberry jam is more likely. Or honey. Or maybe honey and banana. But then, honey and banana sandwiches are pretty far from peanut butter and jelly...

Other than I used to use waffles for bread... my favorite PBJ sammich is actually what I call the allergy sammich.
Wheat bread
Crunchy peanut butter
Nutella
Honey
Raspberry preserves
Slivered almonds
Best sammich ever.
Though I did try one the other day of peanut butter, nutella, caramel sauce and jelly... it got EVERYWHERE. But it was very good too...

I grew up with some particular standards in my home. Wheat bread for any sandwich (white's bland, bleached, flavorless, and vitamin-deprived), some sort of jam/preserves that have actual substance to them - preferably any kind of berry under the sun (love 'em all), and crunchy peanut butter. Since moving in with Fish and his brother, we've always done creamy (though Fish says he's willing to try crunchy), and I've recently been trying out having honey in my sandwich. I also occasionally like to do marmalade with honey and peanut butter, it's a pleasant mix of bitter, sweet, and near-savory.
When I was in high school I loved to add potato chips or Doritos to my PB&J.
Also, sliced up bananas with peanut butter are a ridiculous winner. I wouldn't have it every day, but if you like bananas at all....you REALLY need to at least try it once.

Sagely advice.

I don't know what it is about bananas... but unless it's ice cream flavored like banana I really dislike bananas... maybe it's the strong flavor with the mushy texture.
