Hey LA folks! There's a new site in beta called turntable, and I thought it'd be nifty if we took part.
I have a post up in our Facebook group, but I thought I'd fish for interest here too.
The (technically) Official Legends Alliance turntable room!
Next session: Basically, we decide via the FB group, but last-minute bumps will be in here too.
*Unfortunately, turntable is region-locked! Only users in the USA can use the service. If this changes, I'll let you know.*
What's turntable?
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻)
No, no, not that.
Turntable is, in essence, a bare-bones chatroom featuring a multiple-user, user-generated jukebox.
How does it work?
Up to five users can be DJs, who take turns queuing up and playing tracks from their personal libraries.
The audience and other DJs can then rate the chosen song as "Awesome" or "Lame."
Awesomes get you a shiny point for your point collection. Enough Lames get your song skipped.
Points get you fun new avatars.
Dubstep?
I needed an example, okay! Anyway.
You connect easily via facebook and wind up in a room, which looks like this.
Who uses PC laptops anyway AMIRITE
(Yes, the program does detect your OS and will broadcast that you're either a snooty Apple user or poor.)
Even if you aren't DJing, you can upload potential tracks to play into your personal queue that will play whenever get you tapped to share.
They follow you around from room to room, so there's no need to re-up anything.
The Lame/Awesome-o-meter here is right in the middle, though trending toward the Awesome side.
If you awesome a track, your avatar nods along to the song in gleeful approval.
If you Lame a song, however, nobody knows. So don't be shy.
___________
Overall, I've had a lot of fun DJing with the other staff writers and users over at Decoy Music, but it's a pretty heavy-music centric site.
I can only imagine we've got a pretty eclectic board here, so I think a few good turntable seshes are in order!
